Our reno is moving to the front of the house, as part of a new driveway, I'm moving the front door to the front of a porch, it's currently installed on the side. I have planning approved for this.

The only quote I've had is £4,485 to remove the old door, brick up old doorway, cut out new doorway, and supply and fit new front door. No one else is prepared to actually quote.

So I'm going to do it myself. The porch will be rendered (quote above doesn't include rendering) so I don't need to match the brickwork.

Questions
There is a lintel above the window already, I assume I can use that?
As the porch is going to be rendered, can I fill in the old doorway with two skins in block work tied into the existing sat on existing DPM?
How do I create a reveal after cutting out the new doorway? Do I use block work between the skins to fill the gap and make good?

Anything I've missed?

If the window opening is at the right height and width no need to disturbed the lintel, leave as is. Build the old doorway up as you say, use wall starters to tie into the existing, and wall ties across the cavity if you’re feeling keen. If the rest of the porch is insulated, bung some of that in as well. By reveal I guess you mean how to fill in the cavity where the new doorway is going: two ways, the traditional way was to use thin cuts of brick or block with a vertical dpc fixed to the outer leaf to stop damp bridging across, the modern way is to use cavity closures. Google ‘damcor’ and ‘thermabate’ for inspiration. Others will tell you what million and one rules and regulations you need to comply with.
