Following on from my other thread, I am now in a position to buy a shed online. As it happens it will be a PHer who will be erecting it - totally forgot about him but he came round last year to do some work and I contacted him about this, he can do it all. I haven't got a price yet but he was very reasonable last year and I have no doubt will be equally so before this, but I will confirm his charges nearer the time when I actually book.
Anyway, now I am looking at 10 x 8 sheds online. I am sick of having sheds and summerhouses leak ( 2 current ones and 2 in the old house all had problems with damp and leaks at various points ) so am considering a metal contraption, they also seem cheaper, don't need treating or painting and by logic should be easier to put up and last longer.
Any advice or recommendations on supplier - also whats the difference between a £300 shed and £1200 shed of the same dimension and design - is it purely quality of wood?

There are many different qualities of sheds
Feather edge is cheaper than tongue and groove. Then there's match boarding and ship lap. Thickness of the boarding 12mm or 15mm or even 19mm
Thickness of the frame. Nailed or jointed. Spacing of the verticals.
Roof and floor OSB or ply or tongue and groove
Doors and windows can be cheap or rigid and properly braced
Roof height.....don't skimp if you are tall
I had mine custom built and erected. Paid about £1100 12 years ago (19 feeet by 8). I have refelted it and extended it and I treat it every year.
It still looks new and doesn't leak
Metal sheds are more susceptible to condensation. I'd stick to wood and maintain it

Pretty cheap compared to the local garden centres/diy stores and you can choose decent quality sheds. They turned on with it in 7 pieces on a flatbed and had it erected and put together in about 10mins, even sealed knot holes with a wood filler. Assembly is in the price which is a bonus.
Going to use them again when I move, existing shed has been up 4 years and still looks good as new.

I erected a couple of sheds for customers from here last year Tiger sheds The quality, pound for pound seemed far higher than the stuff in wickes/B&Q etc. One of them, the customer got them to do a custom size in the style they wanted; the supplied roof felt was decent too, as in it was stronger the paper it was wrapped in.

Another vote for these. Although be prepared for their ads to follow you around the internet.What are you panning to keep in the shed? Metal sheds can suffer with condensation (see other recent threads).

Don't even consider them - I made that mistake - they are made of tin foil - luckily I was able to send mine back.They also condensate terribly.
I prefer wood for a large shed but have been very impressed with the performance of plastic ones (one recent thread notwithstanding)
My daughter has owned one for 10+years, moved it 4 times and it's still perfect with zero maintenance.
TBH i ordered the cheapest 8x10 double door shed Taylors Garden Buildings had about 8 years ago and other than a coat of Ronseal about 4 years ago have done zero maintenance to it.
Still standing, still totally dry despite being in a dark damp part of the garden with trees overhanging most of it.
