Garage (Wooden) Doors. Decorator filler?

Guys,
One of my garages has gone dull and the paint has started to pill. Some of the kids where I live including my own have started picking at it.
Looks a mess with patchy paint on the doors and lose paint on the floor.
I've rubbed off the lose paint, brushed it down now needs filling.
I want to use something that I can fill and easy sand off. I'm using some sand paper and a palm sander.
Can I use normal decorator filler ON WOOD DOORS? Was going to buy the Tesco Value stuff in the tube as its only to get me by the winter before I get them replace start of next year.
