Skirts & Fireplace - what colour?
Discussion
Just painting the fireplace and skirts having done the walls. I know the photos aren't great but, opinions very welcome.
Now should I press on with Pure White (eggshell) as I have begun on the fireplace or is it too contrasting/bright. Should I maybe switch to a Roman White or some kind of off white...
Can't decide if I like the bright white finish or not, what do you reckon?

I like the fireplace white, actually. The contrast is good. That's coming from someone who's always insisted on F&B new white for skirtings and ceilings (which is not actually white, but off white). Nice wall colours - what are they?
Thanks, spent a while choosing them and went through some 8 samples.. Walls are from the Dulux Heritage range; DH Pearl, and the feature wall is Dulux Urban Obsession
Thanks for your feedback, this now means I've got to do all the skirts white! I hate working with oil based paint... oh well

Worst "look at my new fireplace" thread
Who me?, never... Thanks for all the nice comments!
What you guys cant see is an original 6 paned window on the opposite wall to the fireplace, this has been moved (from where im standing) to create a glass wall through to the kitchen.
So lots of woodwork to do me thinks!!

Pure white for me - really zings out against the feature wall colour. I have a thing for pure white skirtings though, our whole house has that.
Lovely fireplace as well though - is the surround new? We were looking at replacing ours as it's a 60s relic with no mantle with a new surround and decide between a modern slim floating gas fed fire or a more traditional limestone one. But the wood you have there might swing my mind again!
Well, I ended up removing the fire surround today as I wasn't happy with the transition from brush to roller, so you can see the fire surround is actually a very simple construction put together using some good quality pieces of wood. Hope that helps.Lovely fireplace as well though - is the surround new? And this is what I was trying to describe, bloody great wooden framed window in the middle of the house that will look silly if I don't do it white to match the skirts....
