awaiting 2 12x12 Oak Posts structural grade and a couple of 10x6 RSJ's and stage 2 can begin.
Today efforts, drive to Folkstone and collect solid hardwood stable door, remove crappy UPVC one and fit, after buying new frame.

Have you checked what the post is sitting on?
It's sitting on a 10mm thick 450mm square steel plate that has solid concrete under it. Then has a 2" angle socket to avoid slippage, as per structural engineers Calcs . Simpo, yes, it's 2 steels.
Inky, fekk orf

The posts are rated to 38kn, I need 17kn for the loft conversion, wanted a margin...

Funny how the asbesdos comments have been ignored.
I thought the same. Are you/your wife not bothered? Won't the fibres be floating about for ages?
The harbingers of doom would tell you I should be dead, and glowing in a coffin. There's worse fibres in the air...

Thakm you for confirming what I already thought. I get rather tired of the 'OMG asbestos you're all going to die' crowd.
Next week - food one day past its sell-by date. Oh, and bird flu.
You can't blame people, it's only lack of understanding. We've all sucked in a bit of azzy if we're over 40 at some point in our lives.Next week - food one day past its sell-by date. Oh, and bird flu.
My attitude is I'm here for a good time, not a long time, and when they cremate me, there will be a pair of unburnt lungs left in the oven
