Extending wire to plug socket

Dishwasher went boom yesterday so we have a big emergency. I bought I new one this morning but it is slightly deeper with a recess at the bottom where a plug can fit. This is how the old one was plugged in with the fridge next to it. Can I just entend the wires with something like this or is it not safe/legal?

FWIW, I too would be getting a backbox chased into the wall c/w a flush fit 2 gang faceplate.

This has just been done. I visited my local kitchen place and and electrician came up and did it straight away.
