Counter for counter top sink

Hi - We're currently in the process of renovating a bathroom and I would like to install a countertop basin that sits on a stone shelf. This is the sink:

Is it as easy as just going to a stone mason and specifying the size of the slab to be cut as well as a hole for the waste?

Any ideas, or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the tips. Ended up getting a slate off cut. The only problem I have now is brackets to fix to wall. What sort of brackets dos you end up using ?

Good question. It's going to need some sort of bracing. Which I've spoken to the builder about.
