Vaillant Ecotec boiler repeated problem
Discussion
Morning all
For the last few months we've has an issue with our Valiant Ecotec Plus 831 boiler, and I'm hoping that there's an expert or two on here who can give me a second opinion....
The boiler keeps shutting itself off and showing either a F.61 or F.62 error. When we reset it it works perfectly until it trips again. This is now happening once daily on average, usual in the night so we wake up to a cold house.
The person who installed the boiler says the error means it could be the PCB or the Gas Safety Valve, and that we need to wait until it fails completely otherwise there is no way of knowing which one to fix so it may become unnecessarily costly to fix.
Does this sound right? Is there anything else we can be doing.
The boiler is between 8 and 10 years old I think.
He's usually really reliable, so normally I wouldn't doubt him. However, this has been going on for 2 months now, and I'm tired of crawling through our attic space to get to the boiler and reset it every morning.
Cheers for any advice.

Cheers for the replies everyone.
We are selling the house in May/June hopefully, so I'm not keen to install a new boiler. The boiler itself looks pretty new and has been working perfectly before the.
I've been on the Vaillant website and its £365 for their guaranteed repair (£99 if they can't fix it). Looking online the gas valve is £130 plus fitting. I may speak to the engineer I use and consider taking the risk and installing a new valve.

I know your all interested, so I thought I'd give an update....
The problem carried on, so the engineering I was using sourced a refurbished gas valve and installed that hoping it would fix it. It didn't.
The problem is now worse and it trips about 5 or 6 times a day. Plan C seems to be replacing the flame sensor probes and a strip down.
Im tempted just to go with the £399 Vaillant fixed price repair (£99 if they fail) to avoid throwing good money at bad.
Any further thoughts from anyone?
