I've done a search on the forum for this but couldn't find anything, apologies if I've missed a glaringly similar thread smile

We've sold our finally managed to sell our house in Hampshire and actually found somewhere else to move to. New place is 200 miles away (North Cornwall). We will drive two cars down on the day but I have couple of extra cars that will need transportation (both run/move but have been off the road for a while).

I don't want the additional stress/hassle to trying to get them transported on move day (at the same time as directing the removal chaps and herding two cats nuts ). Ideally want them out the garage / off the drive a few days earlier (also makes sorting the garage out easier).

I'm thinking maybe try to find some local storage place that would be prepared to take them for a very short period (say 4 weeks to give me a couple of weeks either side for the actual move day - give me a chance to sort the garage stuff both ends then) and have them transported down (long distance) beforehand and then transported to the house (short distance) a couple of week later.

Anyone here with any experience of doing this sort of thing, suggestions on storage and transportation?
I've had a few quotes off Shiply to get a ballpark costing for the transportation, but not sure I'd actually book someone off there. Obviously will need a company with two flatbeds or a multi-car transporter.

Cheers

Thanks for all the replies guys beer

Driving them down isn't really an option, as mentioned both have been off the road for a while, one is old enough (1970s) to be mot/tax exempt but it is waiting for a minor resto/re-commision by me, it's on the button and I might drive it a few miles locally but certainly wouldn't want to risk driving it 200 miles down to Cornwall. The other is off the road for various reasons, starts and moves but tax/mot expired.

I must admit I hadn't considered asking the house removal companies. It's early days and I haven't engaged with any for quotes yet so I will certainly ask the question. Thanks to those that suggested it thumbup

I will check storage companies, however I would want the the older car stored inside so need to check that is an option with the Cornish ones.

Cheers.
