Just moved into a new rented house, and got some fridge/freezer thing in there that isnt working.

The landlord knows that there is something up with it, but before we ask him to replace, is there anything I can do generically to fix it

Symptoms are -

No fridge or freezer cooling going on, despite being left on overnight

Was defrosted by landlord two weeks prior to moving in, so was working between then and us switching it on the first time

There was sounds of coolant moving around a bit last night, and it got a weeeeeny bit cooler, but nothing this morning.

All lights in fridge and front of unit are on to indicate all is good

Have tried switching to economy mode and back again over several hours in case it is a faulty switch somewhere.

Are there any generic fixes or things to try for this kind of thing?

I searched google but everyone either has fridge or freezer not working, not both at the same time and the "iced up" fix is not valid as the damned thing is not cold let alone icy hehe

Sorry I don't have the make and model of it on me, had to rush out this morning

Just called the landlord, he is going to replace it. Shame really, it doesn't really look that old but as has been said,, could be anything really.
