Ok, plot summary is last year I had some really nice cherry worktops installed in the kitchen, one big 'L' shaped bench and a 2.5m x 1.75m island. The island was the biggest single piece the company had done and they said they didn't know how it'd work out etc. Long story short it split at one corner, and rather than faff on getting it sorted and risking the same happening again I replaced it with granite.

Which means I'm left with some huge bits of amazingly nice Cherry wood that I'd really like to get creative with.

I'm just curious to see what people come up with ideas wise. I've got all the tables and desks I need, and nobody I know wants / needs it, so rather than just chop it up and burn it I'm going to do something, I just haven't a clue what. I'm not a master cabinet maker, but I'm pretty handy with wood (chortle chortle).

So far I've thought about making some kind of cherry / clear acrylic shelving boxes with plants in it but it's probably too heavy to do anything wall mountable, or a wooden computer case ( my computers are watercooled) but that's as far as I've got.

Any suggestions, wierd, wonderful or wacky smile

That could work, should put a good dent in amount of wood I've got too.

Another idea I've had is a wooden ipod dock but I think that'll take too long by hand. Still, I'm keen to put as much of the wood to good use as possible so it could be a busy summer smile

I like the chess set idea but I don't have access to a wood lathe. How about draughts set with a hole cutter? hehe
Chopping board is a good one!

I used the last worktops and a few bits of steel for the garage so I'm all sorted there!

So far I've got the following on the list:

- iphone PC dock (done the template for that already)
- desk lamp
- computer case
- chunky bookcase
- chopping board(s)

Should still have plenty of wood left after that lot, so feel free to throw some more suggestions at me. PH Smiley carved from wood? hehe
