One of our cats has failed to come back. She has been out now for around 36hrs I have been out this morning for an hour trying to find her but no sign so far. Its a fairly out of character for her. She tends to be mostly an indoor cat that likes to eat and lots of fuss. The most she has been out is one evening, she been gone for two nights now.
Really starting to worry and feel useless that we cannot find/help her. She tends to get scared and the hides and only comes out when she is ready.

It's horrible but there is plenty you can do.
Speak to your neighbours and ask them to check sheds, garages etc. I'm guessing your weather is like ours currently so people will be spending more time outside with doors open.
Go out late with some treats. Its quieter so you'll be able to hear them better. Is there a bell on the collar?
Put posters up at local shops, garages etc.
Ours disappeared in a 30 min period and we got her back 6 weeks later 2 miles from home. Most of them do seem to turn up for those who want to find them.
Best of luck.

Hi guys thanks for all the comments.
The collar she was wearing was glow in the dark and have bells, so I headed out last night at dusk with a flash light and treats. Also used her sisters collar around my wrist as that has worked in the past.
Found two other cats but not our one. Posters are being made today. We have a fair amount of wooded area and streams close by so I am hoping she is adventuring in them.
Its been really hot here 32 degrees so I'm hoping she is laying low somewhere
Hope she turns up as we are moving in a month. New place has a huge garden and is in a much quieter area. getting them used to the new lace with be another thread
So far its been 3 nights and I haven't slept very well. The other half hasn't slept at all

Shes Home!
Just got back from putting the posters up and there she was sitting inside the flat meowing at us. Ultra cuddly and doesn't seem to have any ill effects. So relived and so happy. Thank you all for your suggestions and comments. Bloody cats

The same thing happened with one of our cats a few weeks ago.You might like to consider one of these

Vanished on a Friday evening and returned as though nothing had happened the following Monday. Putting 'missing posters' through all the local letterboxes helped in that we had several phone calls with sightings, so although it didn't actually get our cat back, it did give us hope and some comfort knowing that he was still around the neighborhood
He's a big cat, so we've fitted a GPS tracker to his collar, which he doesn't seem to mind. We also have the loc8tor tags on both cats, but these have a relatively short range. Next time it happens (because it probably will) we can home in to the general area using the GPS tracker and then use the loc8tor to close in on him
I had a look around for trackers and this seems to be the smallest, lightest option that's affordable right now. www.pawtrax.co.uk (pawtrax micro).
