So it's here again, fireworks and bangs whistles and alike.

How do you keep your dog /cat sane when all this banging malarky,

Tonight we will just turn up the hifi to try and drown out the noise for our millie (a bh)
but the only problem is she hears a noise outside and has to go and see who's making it.

Over to you.

Our young Labradoodle sat shaking by my leg for the most of last night. I put some music with a lot of base on, made a bit of difference, but not a lot.
Our cats wernt bothered, and our Rabbits are used to noise as they live in the garage with my Lambo!

I know you can get those plugins to chill cats, but are they available for dogs??

I took the dogs to the beach late this afternoon to wear them out. They're snoring their heads off at the moment, but we've got some tablets from the vets as well, to give to them over the next few nights. Bloody fireworks! Not too bad this year, but last year in London was a nightmare, with bloody Ramadan, Guy Fawkes, Diwali, and New Year. Constant Baghdad-esque soundtrack for about 4 months! Grrrrr!

Fireworks have started. One cat asleep next to me, the other hiding under the sofa, but bizarrely she is purring.

She has just come out, and doesnt look al that stressed. Its her first bonfire night

Ours is a bit daft with the bangs... makes him shake, and, if he dwells on it too long, deposit his arse inside the house (yuck).

Took him out earlier to wear him out, but it's too soon for napping, so the only option now is loud TV and constant distraction (read: playing with his toys with him!).

We've got a 2 hour drive in a bit, though - hopefully he won't hear any when on the road!

Our 3 cats are now being very brave and sleeping them off in the nice and warm house.

Just put a blanket over the rabbit hutch and closed it all up (Normally allowed free roam of the garden) to try and stop them spooking her!

Here's a thread I set up a few days ago to try and give people a heads up re: what to do, some of it is a bit late for tonight but will be useful for e.g. New Years Eve. Turning up hifi and letting your dog find their favourite hiding spot is the best thing to do tonight.

My cat died not too long ago, in the last few weeks. I still open the utility room door slowly in case he's behind it and tonight already I have had those weird thoughts about whether he's safe and OK, despite being buried in the garden.

I got my dog used to noises as a pup, fireworks don't bother him...he's used gunfire

my cat just hides in the toilet sink boxedin same as she does when the otherhalf gets the hoover out

the best tip I can give is to get your pup used to random loud noises while it is very young...like a clap of your hands out of the blue, don't act on it at all just clap your hands and carry on as normal doing whatever you were doing......the pup will not even flinch after a few times....he/she will just ignore fireworks

For the nervous rescue - valerian (sp?) - so far it seesms to be working but it's not that loud here ATM. Tried the DAP diffuser and so on last year to to avail. I spent the evening on the floor cuddling him.

The other two don't give a hoot but that is because we had them from puppies so they were acclimatised.
