Our old Cocker, Molly went blind at about 7 from congenital eye problems, eventually went deaf, we only called time when she started getting these fatty lumps that would bleed and get all smelly, she was still fairly happy but the option was an operation on a 15 year old dog or watch her bleeding, so one morning she was out sniffing the air and generally defiiing as much of the garden as she could and I took her, I dont regret it, she had 15 good years and went out before things got too unpleasant for her.
How did you get on when she first loss her hearing? A blind dog is one thing but I'm wondering how I will re train for blind and deaf if it comes to it. Molly sounds like a lovely dog, and sounds like you gave her a great life. I think I will be the same when that time comes, I'm confident I will make the decision at an appropriate time.

Weekly Vit b12 injections were ridiculed a few yrs back but it does seem to benefit some patients and appears to be getting a more positive review now. No current issues and still enjoying his new home, quite the happy chappy.
Only thing at the moment, is that due to his fear of beeping sounds, he is now scared of the kitchen due to the installation of our new dishwasher. Despite trying get him better by using treats and association, he's not having any of it.
I need to figure out how to stop the damn thing from beeping! Beeps every time we push a button, and beeps when it's finished.
Manual says nothing so I might post in Homes forum to see if anyone knows how to disable it.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread. A name change but I'm the OP. Jack is still very much in our lives! He is now pretty much deaf to add to his challenges but is still very much my boy.
He is still living with my Mother as he has his 'guide dog', Poppy.
He is a superstar. And I'm very lucky to have him.

Been almost a year since I updated this, and unfortunately, this is the update I/we, never want to post.
Jack was struggling. Getting weaker, pretty much completely deaf, and just not happy anymore.
I made the decision that he had been a champion for long enough, and he had earned the right to rest.
I thanked him for being an amazing friend, an amazing housemate, and an amazing constant in my life for many years.
RIP Jacky Boy, see you on the other side .
