yeah sorry i wasnt very clear, i had just opened my eyes and was very confused!!!
yeah royals and big vivs dont work well together, making your own viv is fairly straight forward, few bits of wood, some runners and some glass, jobs a good'un!!
I have a freezer for snake food too! its in the room for the snakes!!

I've recently moved my royal into a 4ft viv, main reason is to incorporate a large bathing pool for her. (She still enjoys a swim in the bath tho).
I've put plenty of structure and hiding places inside so there's no vast ares of open space.

Old wardrobes or cabinets can make belting vivs with a little effort, and make a nice feature. May be worth a look in a local charity shop, or a local Ebay search.

Now that's an idea. It's the ability to move from hide to hide.

any idea why my python DOESNT seem to enjoy bathing? She's going into shed at the moment and is a bit grumpy.....but given the choice of nice bath to slosh about in she just gets out as fast as possible. Im sure they're meant to enjoy it!

My royal does not like it but a quick dip in the bath or a shower is all he needs.

Ok, as i said, royals dont do well in large vivs, they are very very insecure animals. Likely problems when putting into a large viv are non feeding and general aggression. Royals are notorious for not feeding at the best of times, large open areas just compound that problem.
A 3ft viv is as big as i would go (i have 11 royals), most of mine are in smaller tubs, i dont have any problems with feeding!! having a large water bowl/ tub with water so they can get in is very counter productive, snakes (other than anacondas) do not bathe as a matter of course, they only do so if there is a problem, such as mites.
Giving them a huge water bowl means that you are likely to create skin problems, scale rot, respiratory problems to name a few. A dog food bowl makes the perfect water bowl.
My post count may be low, but i have over 20 years experience with snakes, they are my hobby and passion!

Post counts don't count just knowledge which you have. I have a small drinking bowl for Trevor and give him the all over wash only once in awhile. I agree you have to watch the amount of moister they have or you get that squeaking noise. Was looking at some harlequin royals a year or so ago and dear god the fancy bred royals are expensive and live in small shelved boxes.

I have a frozen guinea pig in the freezer at the moment....feel a bit sorry for it! but it does look quite sweet....
...a decent pinch of salt and pepper will sort that if you're peckish.

Though i'm sure Miffy will have as is.

Yeah, some of the morphs are silly prices, i paid over 1k for one of mine 2 years ago, hes worth about 200 quid now!!!
I also rack mine, the tubs arent huge, but they are plenty for what they need. I dont show them so its kinda irrelevant for me, they all eat, they breed and they are healthy and thats more important than having some fancy great big viv that they arent really happy in!!!

The squeek you speak of is the beginnings of an RI, its a killer if left alone, and with royals, a vets trip is in order really.

The noise is something I look out for or should I say listen out for. Im also big on skin checks and so far in the eight years I've had him he's shed cleanly everytime.

Some of those morphs do look amazing but as you say those prices are a shocker. Some of the American breeders are charging multi thousands. Is there any special technique for breeding royals?
