Stopping a dog urinating on my land
Discussion
Being irritated with dogs weeing on the entry to my house path would irritate me enough to post on the internet asking for advice.
Especially if it’s not a case of a bit of wee on a grass verge, but instead a lot of wee around the properties front gate.
That’s why I’m on this thread, but, while I’m here I find it very odd that some people feel the need to post that it wouldn’t irritate them and to criticize the OP.
There’s a pot kettle black thing going on.
Perhaps they should start their own thread asking how they could stop people posting threads that they thing aren’t important because it’s annoying to them.
Anyhow, I have heard good things about zoopoo.
It’s poo from Zoos that contains lion and tiger crap, you use it as fertilizer on the grass or nearby flowerbed and it should make dogs and cats avoid those areas.
I’ve also seen some anti-animal sonic noisemakers.
If you put one of those in the garden it might annoy the dogs enough so that they would rather leave the areas than hang around for a wee.

OP, whilst I too think you perhaps need to chill just a little I can appreciate that perhaps let's say you step outside with your child just moments after a dog has peed and tread in the pee etc so it won't be nice.
If you spray white vinegar over the post (50% water/50% white vinegar) and also add in some tea tree oil this will at least mask the smell a little so hopefully loads of dogs won't respond to the first pee-mail.
Then as above, the only real way to tackle this (so to speak) is to wait until someone walks past and their dogs pees up the post, then ask them not to let it....

To those who can understand that encountering fresh liquid and occasional solid dog waste on their front drive every morning is less than desirable, thanks for the comments. It seems that there isn't a well-known deterrent I can apply, but I'll just throw a few solutions over the brickwork in the hope that it will work.
To those who seem to want to portray this as some kind of frothing at the mouth crusade against dogs and think that I've worked myself into a rage over this, you can relax - I haven't. I'd hoped that the language used in my OP was enough to indicate this (being short on expletives) but it seems you have to spell things out to some people. Or maybe they're vacuously trying to score some kind of perceived PH-points by mocking every post. Who knows. I certainly don't care.

Have you thought about a little sign, politely asking people not to let their dogs foul your gatepost?
As above, most dogs are attached to owners.
This.As above, most dogs are attached to owners.
Plus spray disinfectant/bleach on the brickwork to mask the smell of existing wee, which will make it marginally less attractive to the dog concerned.
If that fails - the a PIR sensor attached to a speaker that just shouts "GET ORFF MY LAAAND" whenever someone is within a foot or so of the gatepost. ;-)
I own a dog and I try and avoid letting him wee up peoples property because I know I wouldn't like it if it was constantly happening to mine.
The OP doesn't appear stressed or not have anything more in his life, it's just something that is irritating and so they posted for some quick advice, that is the reason most of us start a thread..isn't it?!
I would suggest the solution Jasandjuless suggests and trying to spot the owner responsible. They've probably not registered this could be a problem so a polite request to break the habit will hopefully be taken ok (if not maybe a note over the offending area).

I cant really offer you too much decent advice on the dog Im afraid, but I can advise you on how to best deal with people who mock you on the internet. To those who seem to want to portray this as some kind of frothing at the mouth crusade against dogs and think that I've worked myself into a rage over this, you can relax - I haven't. Simply get really angry at them, yet unsuccesfully attempt to disguise your anger as clever sarcasm, whilst allowing just a tiny amount of insanity to show its....oh.
Ahem - the problem of solids is one to refer to the local dog warden ,who might just ask for EVIDENCE . Problems about peeing- that's not so easy. But I used to find a tin of antimate spray did the job, or even ammonia . Mix with water 50/50 and spray around. It certainly masked my she in season . But dogs will be dogs - why not make pals with them -one day you might welcome their protection .
OP when our dog was younger she used to dig in our flower beds. To stop her our tame petshop owner sugested a product called something like "Gerroff". Basicly it was a citrus smelling type of semi solid jelly that you sprinckled (no pun intended) anywhere you didn't want the dog to go. YOu could try smearing it on the wall and leaving some on the ground nearby. Might just break this dogs habit.

I bought some "move it" to put in my flower beds to stop my own cat from using it as a toilet, says it works for dogs too, may be worth a try, only cost a couple of quid...HTH
