She is very good and does know her stuff, problem is universities sometimes forget the real world (and sometimes forget about the cat itself). There are lots of possible treatments (antiviral being one) but cost is a huge issue as is how much do you put a cat through.

Sadly someone has to decide on the balance and it's not easy.

However there is a good chance these kittens will be fine and as long as they start getting handled NOW they should adapt to a domestic life. Leave handling them til they're older reduces this greatly.

ETA just had a look on CHAT page which seems to contraindicate FAB who I trust on some point. I don't t agree that FIV cats should be allowed out and don't agree with their reasoning quite shocked by that, however they are right re re testing at least once if positive result in an otherwise healthy kitten/cat.

Have been keeping an eye out for them all morning, but I can't see them anywhere today. I wonder if mum was just passing through with them, on her way to somewhere else? I can't say I'm not a little disappointed as I'd almost convinced myself to take a ginger one home, but it does make the problem a little easier to solve I guess.

I'll keep watch for them still, it would be nice if they were still around and I could do something for them. Is it usual for a mother cat to move her litter around when they're of that age?

Can be, especially if she feels the area is unsafe. She may have felt threatened by the attention she was attracting, unfortunately she wouldn't know what the difference is between a potential threat and someone trying to look out for her.

The good thing is she sounds like a cat that knows what she is doing, sadly that means her kittens are going to grow up feral and to also breed frown

Get some nice food for them - some raw chicken or the meat packs from pets at home and put some out in a bowl near where you last saw them...
