Separation anxiety

Well we had to go out to a pre-arranged dinner last night and came home to find that he'd dismantled the kitchen doorframe.
So I tried putting him in the travel crate (fabric one) outside our bedroom door, and shut the door. Silence!
I'll try leaving the crate in the kitchen from now on so he can get used to having somewhere to go if he wants to. As far as I know he's never been in one, I only bought it to keep the inside of the car clean.

Of course this would be the morning that I can't sleep anyway.
