Poor Daisy, may she rest in peace.
Dave & Gretchen, are they ordinary tabbies or something more exotic? Beautiful cats either way.
Lebowski is also a Bengal. His coat is beautiful with a glittery sheen to it. Just over a year old and was a rescue. Dave & Gretchen, are they ordinary tabbies or something more exotic? Beautiful cats either way.
He apparently tormented a puppy in his previous castle and it died He was however confined to just one room. He was reputedly aggressive and the Butlers used to upset him so he sprayed everywhere...! He hasn't wanted to venture outside in the few months he's been with me. I live in the countryside and am happy either way. There's enough climbing and activity to keep him occupied indoors. He was initially very hissy with over animals here (dogs and cat) but now plays with the dogs and ignores cat (which is always out anyway).
The description I was given of him is so different to the cat I brought home. He's loving, clean, VERY intelligent (I've taught him sit, stay, gentle paw, high five and kiss - all with speech and hand commands). He just needed love and attention.
Oddities he has include knocking anything off my bedside table, finding things I didn't know existed in top of wardrobes and discovering a bell hooked up next to my bed which he rings around 5.30am every morning - biting my feet if he gets no response. All in good humour though. I think.

The description shows all the classic symptoms of a bored cat. Give them some stimulation, make them feel relaxed, and they change completely. Any breed will cause problems if bored, and a bored intelligent cat can be a real problem He apparently tormented a puppy in his previous castle and it died He was however confined to just one room. Absolutely. The shelter tried to put me off him I think. He was 100% a different cat within 24 hours of him being home. In fact that night he curled up on my lap and slept all evening. He's 'got his paws' well and truly under the table now. Big grins all round and so well behaved. Just active as his breed is. We give him plenty of stimulation and he has several vigorous playtimes every day. I get the impression he was almost an ornament in his first home
Sounds like Bengals are a bit higher maintenance than your average moggie, but perfectly fine if given all they need. I guess the one that lives near my mum has something missing from his life to behave the way he does. Well done for training yours so well - I’m failing to train my silly girl even to open the catflap by herself! She’s a small black & white DSH, ex-stray and I don’t think she’s lived in a home before. We’ve had her since October and she’s very sweet, affectionate and clean, and has settled in very happily, but I’ll not be entering her for University Challenge any time soon...
Does everyone else cat just sit there and watch them eat like a dog? I never knew cats begged so much? He gets plenty of food but is always pushing his luck for more.

I can highly recommend ping-pong balls for high-speed amusement!
My cats go nuts for those indoor helicopters - hover that over them for a minute or so then land it & wait a few seconds then it gets 'paw jabbed' into submission or carried off for a chewing behind the sofairocfan said:

yup - we have one of them too My first one used to steal it literally out of the mouths of my babies. From them in their High Chairs, and from under an eye level grill (steak whilst cooking, sausages, chicken etc). She's mellowed with age.
Lebowski is pretty much on your lap under the table or pawing at me for tit bits. Most of the time if I offer him something he turns his nose up anyway. Not sure why he bothers!

My old one used to forgo that and just swipe what he wanted off the plate - meat, butter, yoghurts, pizza, tomato juice and soft cheese were all prime targets. Used to love the inside of crisp packets as well, pulling them down to his level whilst I was still halfway through. Current one isn't interested at all.
Cookie is particularly fond of targeting scotch eggs here.Gassing Station | All Creatures Great & Small | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
