This photo sums our two cats up to perfection.

The quite gentle Main Coone at the back and our Morag the unhinged Main Coone / tabby cross being Morag at the front.

Does anyone else get wound up by their vet?

Bear had his yearly shots just before Christmas and ever since he's had a small lump at the injection site. We've been monitoring the lump but it hasn't gone away on it's own so we took him to the vets last Wednesday, mostly to make sure the injection was administered properly. They said it seemed fine and he'd probably had a reaction to the injection and it was most likely scar tissue, they took a sample for biopsy just to be sure it isn't anything bad.

He made it very clear the results would be in on Friday and that he would phone after office hours on Friday or if not then Monday night at the very latest.

It's now Tuesday and we haven't had a call. The wife is worried about it and asked me to chase the vet. The receptionist said the results arrived late Friday evening but (understandably) she cannot discuss results and we'll have to wait for the vet to call us. She doesn't know if he is in today or when he might be able to call.

Disappointing, especially considering he was nearly 20 minutes late to the appointment and that he made it very clear that he would phone on Monday night at the latest and has not phoned.

Perhaps I'm expecting too much, but we already dropped 1 local vet for lateness and the way they handled the animals, these new guys were doing much better but why can they just not be on time and phone when they say they're going too.

Chill, the fact the results have come in and they are not rushing to phone you is probably a good thing. Probably means they cannot monetise the situation so you will be way down the pecking order!

The vet may have forgotten!

Either way they set expectations and they haven't met them. We're hoping it's nothing serious but even he said there is a chance its cancer/tumor.

If he's forgot - even worse!

Well. The vet finally called and it isn't good news.

The test done to the lump on Bear show its potentially cancerous and he needs to be operated on to ensure everything is removed before it spreads. They won't know for sure what it is or what's caused it until it's removed.

We're going to try and book this in for next week but it depends on how busy the surgeon is and their confidence levels otherwise it could be the week after.

Not very happy.

Sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed for a relatively easy operation and recovery.

(It's at this point we need an appropriate man 2 man emotional support, with nothing implied, smilie.)

That sucks.

Bear is still so young.

Keeping fingers crossed.
