Was it an F1? They’d have to have a Dangerous Wild Animal licence if so. They’re bred from Servals (wild African cats) and are beautiful, intelligent felines. I’d love one at some point. But happy with my Bengal for now. my god that thing is HUGE and it wasn't fully grown , if I get the job I'll ask if I can get a photo of it

The £3k rubber pipe clip:
BBC (Blue Balls Cat) will now have yet another name added to reflect his recent misadventure. Vet reported everything went well, no need to shorten the intestine etc. He needs to stay there another 3-4 days but all positive signs and I can breathe a sigh of relief. Will be spending the weekend cleaning and searching the house for any tastu plastics and sorting out vaccinations for the kitten

Right. Bear Update! (He's fine and home!)
We scheduled the operation for yesterday (25th) and he went in at 9.30AM. The plan was to remove the lump that's developed since Christmas as well as some surrounding tissue just in case of any potential 'tentacle' like growths that happen with cancer.
I'm thankful to say Bear is home and is doing good. They managed to remove the lump and surrounding tissue and do him back up again. He woke up fine albeit grumpy. He didn't have any post operation sickness and was quite happy to just sit there and chill. They had him on some pain meds and were happy to release him. Everyone at the vet was amazed at how beautiful he was and also what a 'warrior' he was. Absolutely no fuss they said.
His got a slight growl from the tube he had down his throat but that should go in the next couple days. He's got a shaved patch on his left paw for the drip thing, and a large shaved patch with a wound on his back. He doesn't seem fussed at all, we're trying to stop him from running around and being too active as he needs to heal. He's quite happy to follow us round, roll around and just be his usual self.
We've got a follow up appointment on Thursday and he's got some medication to have but hopefully thats the worst of it passed.
The extracted tissue has now gone off for examination to find out what has caused this. Is Bear allergic to needles? Is he allergic to the vaccine? They're also doing research into the vaccine and trying to find out what type it was and perhaps next time Bear has a different style vaccine.
All in all, we are so happy with the vet, everything so far has been with the partner there, he operated on Bear and got more senior advice and direction from other veterinary and oncologist professionals. All the way through he's made us and Bear incredibly comfortable. To put this into perspective, when we took Bear to be fixed, he came home with dirty fur and Bear incredibly dopey and tired, you could tell he was in pain. But this time, Bear has had a serious operation and there is not one bit of evidence of this on his fur at all. No blood, no fluids, he doesn't look in visible pain, just a shaved patch AND Bear has been full of beans. He came home with a small bandage round his left leg and we've been told if he starts to scratch the wound we can go back and get him a coat. Seriously, if you are not happy or have concerns with your vet, please move, it makes such a difference to your own wellbeing but also the cat. If anyone is local to me near Sutton I would happily recommend Wingrave on Mulgrave Road. More expensive than some others but the team there are just so much better than anywhere else I've been. I was so happy, I didn't even bother looking at the bill but I know it started with a £2XXX. :haha:
Where we go from here will depend on what the test results say. It could be as simple as Bear needs to have dead vaccines from now on OR it might be something more serious. Either way, everyone involved has been shocked that such a young cat could have this reaction to a simple vaccine. We also spoke to Bears breeder and they haven't had any issues like this in the past but are grateful we let them know.
Anyway, here he is sunning himself on the sofa, where he's been all morning.

TBbc is still at the vet, looks like another couple of days at least before they’re happy to release him. Is this normal?
I'd say yes. We were warned that they would keep Bear in for as long as possible to make sure he was ok. I think that's what they meant by he's a warrior because he was fine to be released late that evening. They said usually they'd keep them in overnight to make sure there's no issues and for pain relief and then release the next day. Perhaps BBC needs more pain relief or they're not happy to let him out yet? Either way, he's in the best place where he can get the care he might need immediately, rather than being at home unsupervised.
Hope you get him home soon. House feels weird without animals!
