If he had mats, he has an undercoat. It looks like his paws have tufts too. So I'd say a chunk of forest cat (Siberian/Norwegian/Maine Coon). His face looks too pointed to be an MC - my money is on his forestry origins being a Norwegian. Google "forest cat head shape" images and you'll see what I mean.

He's lovely!

Would anyone like to see a photo of Bears potential new sibling?

Different litter but same mom and dad so a true biological sibling for Bear. We're waiting to find out if it's a male or female. And then if it's a male, he'll be coming to live with us and Bear!

I feel the same as I did when we got Bear, I wish we were adopting a rescue, but unfortunately due to family allergies Birmans are one of the only breed we can consider.

Ha. The two dogs and two male cats had the sofas!

Looks like it’s another night in the barn for me

love How exciting. Yes more pics please. Although why not a girl? Bear will love his new sibling either way I’m sure.

It sounds harsh, but we simply don't want to deal with the periods. We've also heard female cats can be quite a bit temperamental and moody compared with males. I've only ever had male cats so am reluctant to try something new.

Only have 2 photos for now, we're trying not to get too attached until they confirm the sex for definite.

Photo of kitten with mom. The wife wants to name it Roo or Bo, not sure.... Suggestions!

Queens don’t have periods? They come in to season. But surely you’d have her spayed? - Most pedigree breeders write this in to the contract of sale. Don’t write the idea off yet.

Yeah, it's in the breeder contracts that we have to have them fixed. Bear has been done and the new one would be too.

I think it's the season part or period, I don't know. But we did speak at length with the breeder about taking a girl and they said that they can be a handful especially if you are not used to girls.

Funny, we've only ever had females and I think cats personalities and behaviour is much more random than along sex lines.

Friends of ours had a very handsome ginger male a few years ago that was called Sefton, always thought that was a cool name for a big boy.

We’ve done some research and decided we’re going to take the kitten whatever it is. It seems like so long as they’re spayed bleeds and heat isn’t such a big deal.

First time ever that all 3 have been seen asleep together.

Sveta, the b&w, is nearly 7, Oxana and Anastasia are sisters coming up on 2 years old. For most of the last year and a half Sveta has, very slowly, got more tolerant of them. Early days she was reluctant to be in the same room as them!

Bear update: Pathologist report is in and it's good news. In the original sample they found abnormal/non-typical cells which is usually a sign of cancer. In the extracted sample, they've found that the cells are not cancerous. Basically Bear had a severe reaction to the vaccination which caused some inflammation of his scruff tissue. If left, it could have turned in the future, but they say the surgeon managed to get it out cleanly, it didn't rupture, it was free from the actual muscle and main tissue and just embedded in the skin layer. So all good, no more operations, no further treatment and we absolutely did the right thing by having it taken out.

We need to figure out what has caused the reaction to know how to go about vaccinating him in the future. We think it's the aluminium content of the vaccination but I need to do some research to compare the vaccine that caused this with the vaccine he had as a kitten and see if there's any differences.

Bear's recovery is going well though, the wound is healing up and looking less sore. He's his normal self and happy as a cat can be.

In other news, I came across this today.

Does anyone have one? I'm tempted to get one for Bear!

Names for new kitten, the wife is thinking of either Roo or Beau (bo).

I've got the Maclaw wheel for mine and they both love it. One jogs / walks runs on it several times during the day and shouts at me to spin it for her when I'm home and she can get a real sprint on when that's happening. The other doesn't use it so much but will always have a good jog/sprint when she gets excited or before she goes to the loo!

I can highly recommend them: https://maclawwheel.co.uk/

For what it's worth my 2 are indoor only so I was very keen for them to have an exercise option, thankfully it paid off!

Girl cats are perfectly normal...Smokey entertaining herself with a paper bag, tissue paper, a knitted toy and a ribbon, not greedy at all.

I actually had to block up the fireplace as she took a run down the stairs, across the front room and dove headfirst into it, disappearing behind a board I thought would be enough to keep her out....
