That's what the OP needed - a swan hunter...

'Hello, is that Swan Hunters?'

'Yes it is, how may I help you?'

'I was wondering how much you'd charge to go out and find a couple of swans for me'
And like most of the manufacturering industries in this country, along with mining, ruined and broken up by sucessive governments so we just don't make it here anymore

Can you not get a pair of fake electric powered swans and have them swim around the middle of the lake? Your partner probably won't notice the difference hehe

Gone off the idea of swans now. No good at all with a 7 month old baby toddling around the place. Thanks for all your suggestions though. Most insightful.
Either you're letting your little one toddle down by the water or letting the swans into your house, which is it? Not that I think a 7month old is doing much toddling hehe

Never mind the pond, if you want a romantic gesture, get a couple of peacocks instead. Beautiful, graceful birds.

(so quiet too, your neighbours won't mind at all biggrin )

Why not some big white geese instead .And bonus is that they make excellent burglar detection .( Another bonus is not having to shop for Christmas dinner orthat omlett (sp))
