How are those activity centres delivered? Flat pack? I might buy one too
Check ebay. Flat pack but the shapes can be big so parcel is quite big.

Get yourself a laser pointer for ultimate kitten entertainment.

I rescued a kitten off the street a few months ago, then, when I was away on a business trip Mrs A acquired another one so we now have two of the creatures.

Flat ish pack. The box for ours was about 2ft x 1ft x 1ft. Assembles in 5 minutes or 15 if you don't read the instructions.

ps - in my experience scratching posts are dust gatherers - they should invent a scratching post shaped like the back of a sofa - would sell in their millions.

Collars - buy one - if it's gone in a week don't replace it (or you will do so every week until you run out of money) !

If you have run of the mill cats then maybe, but bengals LOVE posts, boxes, anything and our post has actually been worn out because they use it so much.

Depends on the moggy. One of ours will come in and the first thing shed does is head to the scratching post (it's on the way to her bed) and use it. Sometimes she will sit in/on it as well, it's a three level thingie...

So quick update

Chase and Status have settled in very well and are gradually taking over the house, I turfed the garden this weekend (new build) and we have allowed them some supervised time in the garden which they were wary of at first but soon started to enjoy, we have got them trained to come when we rattle their biscuit bag and this is working well, they are fine with their collars we are going to get a microchip cat flap installed soon

I have a quick question regarding food

At CPL they were fed a pouch of Felix Kitten in the mornings and evenings with Purina biscuits to graze on through the day

They love the food but the biscuits get eaten straight away, the OH is concerned we aren't feeding them enough

So is this enough food for 6 month old kittens or should they be getting more?

How much dry food in grams per day?

This is a complete food, not designed to be fed with wet food, however many people do this and it is ok as long as the cats do not eat too much (it is very easy to overfeed dry food)

Once I know the amount you're feeding of the dry I can let you know if you can give more.

Some cats are good at controling their intake so measuring food for these cats is not as vital. Many don't though so it needs weighing out.

Glad they're settling in well smile

Ummmm ok we havent actually been measuring it more by eye I shall weigh it tomorrow and post

I know at CPL they said they couldnt leave lots out for them to graze on like they do with other cats as they would gobble it all and then get the squits, I think this is where my OH concern comes from as they always look like they are starving when I think they are just greedy little buggers

hehe at the training comments are you suggesting we have been trained to rattle biscuits? Sneaky gits

Ok.
Tell your other half not too worry, it can take a bit of trial and error to get the balance right but they won't be far off the right amount esp if they are having 2 pouches each a day.

Not suggesting...;)

Our two get two pouches in the evening (house cats) and a small bowl of biscuits when I get home from work.

I rather get the impression the smaller of the two prefers the wet food. They seem happy enough either way though smile

I weighed the biscuits this morning (although the OH said I gave them more than she does) and they had 25g each

I think her main concern is that they have a pouch each at appx 7am and the biscuits left for them to graze on, of course they dont graze they wolf them down and then they have nothing until we get home at 7pm when they have another pouch each

They seem fine though plenty playful etc

2 pouches and 25g each per day sounds ideal.

The only way round them getting food during the day when you're not there would be an automated feeder but then you'd not be certain both cats would eat from it.

If they are otherwise thriving she shouldn't worry, they'll cope fine with the current routine.

Just an extra point, if they ever gain a bit too much weight reduce the dry food by a few grams smile

Thats great news thanks I will let her know (although she reads PH so will prob be aware by now anyway)

If I may ask just one more question

Water, we ensure that they have fresh water daily but they dont seem to drink a huge amount, I assume partially this is due to them having a wet/dry diet rather than just dry which I understand would mean they need to drink more, do we need to try and encourage them to drink more? We treat them with Kitten Milk every so often and they lap it up so they obviously know how to drink

We have seen a water fountain type thing, is this just a gimmick? Or would they prefer less stagnant water?

Mine gets Highland Spring in a wide bowl. Apparently cats don't like the taste of chlorinated water, or to get their whiskers wet.

The CP lady recommended rainwater, however I'm a bit concerned about this going skanky in the water butt and decided to go for bottled instead.
