Can a spider be deaffened?

Actually, it sound like you need to borrow my cat. He made short work of a mahoosive (well, it looked big to me) spider last week:

Note to onesickpuppy - does your cat give lessons, I have 2 cats and they are useless when it comes to spiders. Tehy stare at them, look at the OH and I and then stare at them some more then shuffle off to another part of the house.
I pay good money for their up keep, their food, vets bills etc etc and all I want the little b'stards to do is kill the odd spider and safely dispose of it for me. They have claws, keen senses and sharp pointy teeth and yet no, the littel feckers would rather sleep some more.
So can your moggy give lessons on spider killing and motivational life skills?
