My mum has a couple of Staffs

Last year one of the tough, fearsome, devil dogs from hell poked his head out the door to investigate the white stuff falling from the sky when a snowflake landed upon his nose.

When he realised that the snowflake upon his nose was cold he shook his head vigorously whilst snorting to remove said snowflake and fixed my mum with a gaze that said...

'You're having a fking giraffe sunshine!'

Once he had it perfectly clear that the whole Staff/snow thing wasn't happening now, tomorrow, next week or this side of the second coming of Chist the Saviour himself he ran back to the wood burning stove for several hours of sleeping/snoring/farting.
Haha, ours is generally ok with the cold/wet, be interesting to see if the same holds true with snow. Hope he loves it smile And yes, sleeping, snoring and farting is his general behaviour hehe

We have a Springer. The only thing I'd say to be careful of is ice especially ponds and lakes. If your dog goes through the ice it isn't going to support your weight to rescue it.

We had a Springer some time ago. Only problem he had in winter was that his paws were raher like giant hary Brilo pads. Sonw would compact into the hair between the pads and it would become very uncomfortable for him to walk. It was quite difficult to remove.

So, winter is all but gone..... and no problems on the dog front, snow, ice, they are bothered not, and will happily lay in the snow when in the garden, no different than they lay on the dry ground, or wet ground.

We had to fence off the grass area as it turned into a squelching quagmire, but they looked at the fence once, and never seemed bothered since, but it saved wiping the mud off their feet every time they came into the house.

Anyway, apart from the usual idiots with their predictable/typical Ph dhead responses, useful thread. thumbup

Winter will be around a while longer. Which means more fun to be had.

I know you have been overseas for a few years but our winters can hang around to April! Still have some way to go yet before we can warm our cockles.

Just a coat for Scrabble...

...although she occasionally struggles in ‘clumpy’ snow that sticks to her paws and leaves her bumbling round with a snowball at the end of each leg!

Yes, I’ve just been up around Leek/Buxton on my bike, still plenty of snow on the ground all around there.

Talk on the news of a sweltering 12c tomorrow around the Midlands. yes

I have walked my dogs in -25 in Canada. Warm coat and avoid the salt and they're fine.

I've got a greyhound and she loves the snow.. She rolls in it and even scoops it up with her nose..

I put a rainproof coat on her and she seems fine... The only problem that I've had was when she pulled me over, as I lost grip on the compacted snow..
