Post photos of your dogs vol2
Discussion
As I've been posting quite a lot recently (and boring you all to death about my rescue dogs, past and present) I thought I ought to formally introduce them:
My first dog (of my own rather than a family dog) was Jake. He was a staffy x, adopted at 6 months from Bristol Dogs Home - he was surrendered having 'bitten' a grandchild who tried to take a chew from him
Next was Charlie, a whippet x terrier, adopted at 12 months from Bristol Dogs Home - she was a stray, picked up by the Dog Warden.
When Charlie died, I adopted Ellie. She was a lurcher, 10 years old, from Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary. I believe she was an ex-working lurcher.
Unfortunately, I don't have any digital photos of Charlie, but here is one of Jake (in his later years) and Ellie:
When I lost Jake to cancer, I adopted Lily and Hudson at the same time from Greyhound Rescue West of England. Lily was a greyhound, dumped by her trainer/owner at 18 months, adopted but then returned to rescue because her owners' circumstances changed. She was 4 years old when I adopted her:
Hudson was a 3 year old lurcher (grey x lab), previously owned by a drug addict, ended up in the pound from where he was taken into rescue:
Eventually Ellie had to be PTS, after which I adopted Benson (again from GRWE). He was a 6 year old lurcher (grey x saluki), given up to rescue when his owners separated:
I then adopted Joe, from Holly Hedge. He was a 12 year old bull lurcher (grey x staffy) found wandering alone on Bonfire Night. From his scars, he was almost certainly an ex working lurcher, possibly used for badger baiting:
Then, having lost Benson, Hudson and Lily within the space of 18 months, OH and I adopted Sam and Jet - 8 month old whippet brothers from Lizzie's Barn. They grew too big for showing or breeding, and were unsold, so their breeder surrendered them to rescue:
Next came Dylan, a 7 year old greyhound adopted from Greyhound Rescue Wales. He was bred and raced in Ireland, before coming over to Wales to be raced on the (unlicensed) 'flapping' tracks. Surrendered to rescue in an awful state, he had to have all but two of his teeth removed:
And finally (for the moment!) we have Honey, another 7 year old greyhound from GRW. Again, bred and raced in Ireland and brought over here for rehoming:
And if you're still awake after that, thank you and congratulations!

Thanks for that moorx. You spoke so knowledgably about hounds in another thread. I'm glad you've posted all of them here with their own wee story.
Good on you.

Thank you. I've really enjoyed looking at everyone else's lovely photos, so thought I should post some of mine. It was quite nostalgic looking back; bittersweet You spoke so knowledgably about hounds in another thread. I'm glad you've posted all of them here with their own wee story.

Mack's first trip to the seaside yesterday and he rather enjoyed it!

Love this one - a dog that's clearly been through quite a bit finally able to relax fully - great pictures of lovely animals Moorx! Our own dodgeball had his follow up scan at Dick White's on Tuesday last week, and blood levels are slightly improved (which we weren't expecting ) and all the nodules are exactly the same - no movement. It's just a normal ageing process for a 9 and something year old heinz 57 - we couldn't be happier!
It's as though he knows he's signed off this time and doesn't need to go back, thoroughly chilled out since!

Yes, that's my favourite photo of Joe As you say, he had obviously had a pretty cr@ppy life (you can't see half of the scars there - his head was covered in them):
But he was the loveliest, most gentle, clownish lump you could ever wish to meet. Truly a dog that 'lived for the moment'. He is much missed, but the two years we shared with him were wonderful....
