I watched one walk down the street yesterday.

There is no way the owner is complying with the law when it comes in. I bet they don't even know the ruled are changing, let alone care.

What's a large dog?
When we rescued our second dog, she weighed about 19kg. A couple of months of good food and she was 21kg. Visually, she’s a medium size dog (cross breed, possibly GSD with some sort of terrier).

Called the insurance company to insure her and said she was a medium sized dog. “How much does she weigh? Ah, anything over 20kg is a large dog” (with larger premium of course).

Or regulate animal breeders as opposed to breed. Shelters have no shortage of dogs and seem to do a well enough job of vetting owners when profit isn't a priority.

So which of your two comments below do you want to stand behind?

I've been bitten many time over the years due to my job, should all the scared/nasty/defensive culprits be put to sleep? One of my labs, many years ago, nipped the postman's hand when he opened our door to put a parcel inside, she would not have bitten anyone if they had been visible, but she drew blood this time. Would i have put her to sleep? Would i let her out next to the postie? No.
There is a danger to keeping any dog that has bitten, but a bite/snap is remarkably different to an aggressive attack.
Hopefully, you will reduce your levels of aggression, or is that too much like being an XL?

Seriously?
People are not suited to having the choice of such a breed, hence a ban on propagation of this breed! It's a no brainer
I think it's a big deal with any dog bites anybody but I also think that a blanket ban is not the solution. The hypocrisy of your point is that your can explain it away when it comes to your dog, and yet take a hard line when it's somebody else's, I've advocated for leash laws, micro chipping, spay and neuter and accountability for owners and breeders that would go towards addressing all dog bites, Experts and advocacy groups like the British Vet Association and the University of Liverpool study seem to indicate the same. My only guess is that people with your views don't like that because it also makes them liable.

By the way, I'm very familiar with chihuahuas and they can be very aggressive. You'd be weary of infection if one bit you after look at the state of their teeth.
Well said!

Seems like people with criminal records shouldn't be allowed to keep dogs?

And nobody thinks someone with an attitude like that will have no bearing on the way a dog is brought up and behaves no matter the breed?

Doesn't matter. Don't pick a breed with the physical power and bred-in temperament to maul someone else or their pet to death. Plenty of others to choose from.

There are estimated 7000 plus of these dogs in the uk, if they are bred to maul why have so few killed?

So definitely nothing to do with the way the dogs that did was brought up, no?

So in the same vain, sctote bag parents = more than likely a scrote bag kid that’s always in bother or do most of them go on to excel at Oxford or Cambridge because of the stable and grounded upbringing they had?

That would be any dog over 50lbs.

I saw an interview with a guy who worked for the police. His job was to visit the homes where attacks had taken place. He said that sadly all the homes had one thing in common, a chaotic and disorderly mess. A place with no structure or discipline. Basically disfunctional.

Don't be stupid. It's the dogs fault, specifically breed. Nothing to do with the scum that own the dog.

Ha, quite. But I didn't say it wasn't the dogs fault. As benno said it's a nasty dog owned by a nasty human.

Possibly an opinion?

just curious for all those in the know, how do you breed a dog to kill and maim?

I mean like it’s just a killing machine straight from the womb?
