New Year's Eve walk for Lorne on the Dragon's Back today. Enough breeze to get the ears fully deployed!
Love this guy.
Bless him, but it looks like that walk might be enough for this year!

That other thread about pits/staffies got me thinking and I went and found this post again.

The new knee never really worked so Kay is currently on 3 legs...

Also I went back to the dog pound with my usual order... an old staffie or pit bull type dog that doesn't have a chance otherwise. Illnesses etc are no problem.

They gave me Gemma, she's 11-12 years old, being treated for heart worm and a bunch of other stuff. She had a home but with an old guy, he went into old folks home and his family dumped Gemma and her son at the council pound. He was rehomed separately too so they both got out of that hellhole.

I expect Kayleigh has now seen her last Christmas but we'll see! from past experience once you start lopping off cancerous bits you're in the final stretch.

These dogs make wonderful pets but its quite depressing seeing people cross the road to avoid you.
She is lovely but then I adopted a three legged Dog 20 or more years ago I had no idea why I did it but I am glad I did and we have had 5 more rescue Dogs because he was so brilliant.

Always nice to see these dogs all out on exercise.

Surprised they're not in harnesses rather than collars?

Rocco had a rash he wouldn't stop itching around his gentleman area, so I bought a suitical for him as any kind of cone he wears he refuses to drink water and stands there barking at his bowl until you remove it, even tried the inflatable kind.
He doesn't seem to mind wearing the suitical at all and it fits pretty well, although we cant leave him in it when not home as he can sometimes get his back legs caught up inside.
Means we can put his cream on and he cant get at it to lick it off before it does its work, seems to have improved a lot now anyway so just hoping he doesn't have a habit of licking now!

Took two of ours to the Lake District over Christmas. Even seemingly managed to wear the cocker out for the first time ever (he's 4 now).

Maybe only when they are on duty or being trained.

Are they service dogs or just soldier pets?
Around my way have seen army on minor training who take their pet dogs to give them exercise

I'll have a guess at Ennerdale. Never been, but there's a major rewilding project there, so it won't look sheep-wrecked.
Thanks. I've spent a lot of time in the lakes but didn't recognise it at all. One to put on the list to visit.
Well spotted..! Ennerdale is a gem, and generally less people in Western Lakes.

Happy New Year all..! My NY resolution was less walking, and more running. :-)

Another spot Iove is the River Esk and Great Moss. Started 2019 off with a trail run along it and up and over Scafell Pike - https://youtu.be/zcBmaxh1xmk

I absolutely love your pictures and your dog smile

ETA- you’ve also inspired me to go for a decent walk tomorrow as I live in Lancaster so not too far from your YouTube clip.

Have fun on your walk tomorrow, let me know if you want some suggestions. I can highly recommend a B&B if you plan on staying over. :-)

Thanks all - It wasn't *that* long a walk. 2 hours, about 7K with a stop for him to mug me for a beef sandwich while he spurned his biscuits....
He's got bags of energy: We didn't get right to the tops then as the clag was coming down and the wind getting up - and we're still looking for a good coat for wet/windy conditions.

Now that is the kind of place me and missus like! Thanks for that one!

ETA - Is it dog friendly? I can’t see anything on the quick look at the website? Is it your place?

Yuppy (its ours and Mrs Redback911 runs it), it has one dog friendly room (Annex Room). Just PM me for more details and I can hook you up as needed.

Fantastic! I can put the missus in the annex hehe

Just walked down to the shore...parting words were “I’ve just washed them so don’t get them mucky!” Oops.
