What happened to our dog?
Discussion
Can somebody in the know how please put me out of my misery as I have read several articles (probably not a good idea) but we have requested a separate cremation which the vet has promised but after reading these articles, it appears that although you request a private cremation, it doesn't always happen! This has made me feel extremely worried & physically sick.. Please help.

Stop reading!
Stop worrying.
Would you be worried about any other member of the family's cremation? Exactly. Trust your Vet, he's done the best he can for him so far, he'll continue to.
But humans are cremated separately, animals are not.... I do trust our vet but even they have no control over how these organisations work. I just want him home to be honest.Stop worrying.

I'm so sorry to hear about your beautiful golden retriever, it really is heartbreaking ![cry](/inc/images/cry.gif)
Had to say my final goodbye to Dino last year, my first ever dog (also a golden retriever), I cried bucket loads.
I had 2 other retrievers at that time, which did make the loss a little easier, but Dino and I had a special bond that was hard for some to understand.
I've mentioned this on another thread before - his ashes are on the windowsill (in a container attached to a large photoframe and his name tag is in the corner of the glass). I do still miss him, he was such a character who has left his massive pawprints in my heart and a lot of great memories (I'm such a softie
).
I hope things get easier soon
Thank you for the kind words. The weekend hasn't been very good as I keep having to drive past the vets where I am sure he is still held. I just want to run in there & take him home.![cry](/inc/images/cry.gif)

It will get easier that I am sure but for now, this is extremely hard for me to get over the fact that I will never see him again.

Having a read brought a tear to my eye, it is never good to lose your 4 legged companion and friend
1 year seems like no time at all, for me its 1 month tomorrow, still find it difficult to look at my pups pics, brings sad feelings at her loss
and I still have her collar in my coat pocket from taking it off before she was buried ![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
Just try to remember the great times you had together as those are the memories you want to keep![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
I still have his collar hung of a picture in my bedroom. My tears have been replaced with happy memories although I would give absolutely everything I own to have him back.... I miss him more than anything.![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)

Thanks everyone, speaking about him does help & unless people have owned dogs (or any pet really) they will never understand that bond you have between them. I havn't thought about getting another but we were feeding & looking after our neighbours 2 cats for 4 months due to them being homeless & the cats realized where the food was so latched on to us. They have now been given accomadation so we won't see them again. ![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)

Thanks bex, it does get easier over time but he will always be remembered & loved & as you say, he will always remain special even if we were to get another pet...... Doesn't time fly hey! I seem to attract all the neighbours cats so they keep me occupied most days and one of our neighbours can't believe just how much her cat (peekachew) sorry for the spelling has taken to me! I think he realises that I wouldn't cause him any harm. ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
