Met a chap walking a 1/2 grown dog this morning, looked like a Gsd x husky or like. aked him and he said it was 50% wolf. (sorry no pic)
Bit sceptical about this tbh, how the hell do you go about mating your dog with a wolf and if you did what would be the point?
Man has spent many years of selective breeding to remove undesirable traits from dogs wild ancestors why would anyone want to shove it all back into the mix??
And at what point does the wild animal/dangerous dog act come into play making it illegal.
Anyway if i hear something howling on a full moon i'll know what it is !!
I happened across a program about this recently. Wolfdogs can be bred intentionally by people who live in areas where there's a wolf population (must be risky for the dog though!), or they can result from a dog and a wolf mating without human intervention. It seemed to be a very controversial area with and IIRC it's a bit of a grey area WRT the law, but there are people in the UK who keep them so the guy you met could have been telling the truth. The wolfdogs in the program needed a very experienced owner and a huge amount of exercise - I couldn't understand the point of owning one at all.
^^^^^ Another gorgeous Springer! It must be one of the most popular breeds on here.
This is my aunt's Briard, Taz. Strangely he doesn't like having the hair pulled away from his eyes, he actually prefers to not be able to see properly...
These two old chaps are my cousin's German Wirehaired Pointers, lovely dogs but quite grumpy.
The second pic was meant to include two horses and two llamas as well as Jackson and my cousin's Pointer x Lurcher but it was never going to happen! Somebody kept getting bored and wandering off
