9pm on a Suffolk 'b' road last night, a barn owl took off from a roadside fence about 20 feet in front of my car.

Took me by surprise but a lovely sight to see.

Responsible for many a 'ghost sighting' before decent headlights I reckon..

pretty cute actually. quite rare to spot one. more so to have it rummage in your suitcase.

Arrived for work this morning to be greeted by many hundreds of lapwings swirling around the site we were due to work on, then as we left at 4.30ish a murmur of starlings (probably 20,000 or more) passed right over our heads. Amazing noise, sadly no predators about to make it really interesting smile
