Great picture.
I particularly like the idea of a retrieving sighthound - our big lad has to be muzzled because he retrieves pheasant live, before they are shot, much to the annoyance of the manager of the shoot

Bolly likes a runner. I was on a shoot recently when we were wrapping up the day. My hands were laden with pheasants that I was taking to the game cart. At that moment, two chickens came around the corner. Another dog went for them. Bolly saw the dog go and obviously thought these things must be fair game too. I dumped the birds and whistled him in but too late. Bolly came around the corner very happily with a big chicken in his mouth. I took the chicken and just as I said the words "I think it might be ok", the thing's head drooped...
One of the beaters took it home for supper and I now get endless grief.
Bolly isn't really a gundog (though he has Field Trial Champions in his bloodline). He is a pet. His first job is to lie by the Aga and have his tummy rubbed by the kids. Second job is to woof at people who come to the front door. Third job is to come shooting with me but he's pretty good.

The spinone bought a rabbit in from the garden earlier this week - OH asked me to remove it as it was live and unharmed. Boxed it up and popped it in the paddock and it shot off, but sadly thirty seconds later it died of fright. Don't you hate it when they do that?!

Many thanks for all those that have commented about Milo - as I said, we are not at at the end yet, but I do believe the fat lady is in her dressing room sadly.

The fox pics are great, beautiful animal.

I recently spent a couple of weeks staying at a mate's house, while he was on holiday, looking after Casey the Rottweiler.

And chilling out late at night.

And I bet the rottie was a joy to be with.

had to have my best friend put down last year, this was 'Lenny'
Its the last picture I have of him before I had to take him to the Big bloke in the Sky

He was only 6 yrs old but sadly what the vet thought was a ligament problem turned out to be terminal cancer.
I had to have him put down on 23/12/14 .....We cancelled Christmas last year, took the tree down and everything frown

End of January this year we got Dodge, I did not think I wanted another Dog so soon but it really helped us with the road to recovery,
they become so much part of the family and I was ripped apart. Still miss him (especially at this time of year).
Best of luck Turn7, looks like your boy has had a good innings.
Poor Lenny frown What a gorgeous boy - just my type of dog.
Here's one in Happier times

And riding shotgun in the Van biggrin
Didn't want his little ears getting cold biggrin

Yes, best wishes to you all Turn7, I feel for you. frown

And very sad to read about Lenny too, but I'm sure his all too short time with you was a happy time, and that's the most you can do for them.

Any photos of Dodge?

Yes, she is.
I've stayed with her a few times before when my mate and his other half have been away.

She can be very aggressive towards unfamiliar men (she's fine with women), but I've known her since she was eight weeks old and I see her usually at least once a week, so with me she's just a big lump of cuddles! hehe
