Latest government figures show 55,000 Bullys are now registered. Apparently the government believes this will keep the public safe.
I bet a good few thousand are not.
I"m sure they have all read the restrictions, and even made thier owners read the restrictions - So thats fine then.I bet a good few thousand are not.
And another serious incident in the news this morning:

By killing thousands of dogs?
Yes. Cull every XL bully in the UK to prevent future fatal attacks on human beings. Seems like the right thing to do, don't you think? Wipe all out #becausetheirallthesame

Neither you or the owner have any idea whether that dog will flip and hurt, or kill, someone. Thr fact it seemed really nice and let you tickle it's tummy is really meaningless.
This might be the most idiotic comment I've read yet on this thread but I'm sure there's more coming. Super Sonic said:

Just saying it's idiotic isn't very intelligent in itself.
There are 40+ pages in this thread that include plenty of posts from me and others so there's no sense is repeating myself. The poster has already made his mind up that all of these dogs and any that look like them should be killed regardless of their temperament. People like that are best kept away from from animals, or people for that matter. Just saying it's idiotic isn't very intelligent in itself.

Your preference is to let the dogs live, and for people to continue to be killed by them. I find that incredible.
Putting some numbers on this. There are 55k Bullys registered. I think that is England/Wales only. Call it 60k Bullys in the UK. If there were 5 deaths by XL Bullys in 2023 every XL BUlly has a 1:12000 chance of killing someone per year.
Sounds low but to put it in perspective there are 12 million dogs in the UK. If there are another 5 deaths per year from other breeds then other dogs have on average a 1 in 2.4 million chance of killing someone.
So on those numbers XL BUllys are 2000 times more dangerous than the average dog. On the other hand maybe the RSPCA are correct and it's nothing to do with the breed.

Good to see the NRA justifications surfacing.I have said it before and i will say it again.
Believe it or not these dogs were never meant to be for fighting or attacking people. They were meant to look the part but be big softies.
And that is what the vast majority are.
The issue i believe is they have been in recent years especially in the uk bred for nothing but looks and size.
It seems to be common knowledge that known biters or poor temperament dogs have been used for breeding.
Couple that with scum bag owners, zero training and you've got a massive f
king dog that if it turns you've got a problem.
We have a 'standard' bully which ultimately is the same thing just smaller, think big staff size.
She is by far the best dog we have ever had. Her temperament is very calm, she literally worships our kids, she wants to be with them and not us
shows no aggression to other animals. basically how they are meant to be.
She was meant to be a pocket bully (same again just smaller) but like people you get tall ones and short ones even if the parents are tall or short.
We did train her an awful lot as a puppy. For example now i could put a trail of treats around a room and i can make her stop and wait between them. I can make her drop anything on command as well.
It is a shame because ultimately they are meant to be nice dogs. I don't believe the us has anywhere near the amount of attacks ( i could be wrong).
I totally get the stigma and why people would give them a wide berth. Recent events don't look good do they.

And yes they are very dangerous. I'd rather be bitten by a Jack Russell than an XL Bully. Why anyone actually needs one of these things.
They don't give any sort of warning on the run up 'oh Tyson was always aggressive so I could see it'. No they go off like a bottle of shaken pop.

What do you think about all the bullys that were 'the best dog they had ever had' (just like yours is) until they snapped/turned and killed the owner or child?Believe it or not these dogs were never meant to be for fighting or attacking people. They were meant to look the part but be big softies.

The post from the kennel club with all the details about 'kimbo' bloodline and offspring (how many could be in the u.k) are quiet worrying.

As I'm sure the woman in the flat sadly found out.
