I’ve managed to get the antibiotic pill down him for 3 days straight without losing any blood. So that’s at least one win to me.
Is there a liquid version you could put on his food?
Possibly, but I’ve not got 3 left, so I think I’ll be ok.

Well think the time has come for our poor boy socs, been a battle with him over the last year or so with his diabetes diagnoses last christmas and after a lot of work was seeming to respond really well with the treatment. However this week from wednesday on been off his food so unable to do the insulin shots became lathargic not really responding that great and being alert and started having really bad diahroia. had to clean him yesterday as he got it all over his back end. His muscle strength has all but gone on his back legs over the weekend too.
Vet visit first thing tomorrow we hoping its just build up of urea again like a few month back and maybe fluids will help but deep down think its too much for him and we putting him through another load of stress at the end of his life.

My sister had to put her cat down in the new year after a build up of fluids on his lungs overcome him and we were really hoping we get socs into his 18th birthday next month and have one last summer with him but the chances of that look really slim right now.

Im debating whether to take down my 18month old cat who has formed a bit of an understanding between each other down to my parents as it may be their last time together or if it will give to much stress on socs having him around.

It's literally breaking my heart right now seeing my boy who we have had as a family since i was 13 drop off so quickly and not responding much at all. Dam these little creatures make such a big impact on your life.

It’s so difficult, but IME, you know in your heart when it’s time… and when cats stop eating it’s not good.

Big hugs from me and my 2.

Tough read Chris.

Hoping tomorrow’s vet appointment is positive

So sad to see them going downhill

Our two send their best

Thanks for the replies means a lot. Just come back home after a visit took my cat down greeted each other with a little nose bump apart from that mine left him alone all evening and even cuddled up by side of him which was really nice.

He had a little bit of food throughout the day and no accidents. He is drinking and is responding a tad better but he's looking really sorry for himself ATM. Did place him on my lap and it felt like he had given up though just layed there for ages but was puring.

Hopefully it's just an infection and anti biotics may help but we said that any sort of surgery or extended stay in the vets would be way to stressful for him and not fair to put him through that.

Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Back from he vet visit some good news but mostly bad. He hasnt got an infection this time doesnt look like its an internal bleed from the colour of his diahoria. However he has noticed the muscle loss on his back legs and he has lost weight down to 3.7kg from 4.1.
The real bad news is he can feel some sort of lump or growth in his rear end either on bladder or stomach which he recons is the cause of his issues. The main concern is lack of eating so he given us some apitite stimulant to try and help him. Brought him home and he did actually eat so given him his insulin.

Only way he can properly diagnose him is with an ultra scan but if he doesnt pick up his eating think we were all on the its not really worth the extra stress on him. Tbf the vet was brilliant with him and explained everything and obviously the end of life discussion. Hes back in on friday hopefully he starts eating more and building back in strength but if not can see the only real option is to put him to sleep.

He did seem to have a bit more fight in him today he was pulling back on me playing with his back paws which he wasnt even reacting to yesterday. Time will tell.

It's heartbreaking reading about the cats, who creep into our lives and hearts. Just like their humans, they get old and ill, however they have no way of complaining or telling us. By the time we are able to get them help, they are often too ill...

As someone who has lost 4 cats within 17 months, it's almost unbearable.

Taking care of them in their hour of need of the best that we can do.

We very nearly took his sister as well, who was a blue with ginger patches and excruciatingly cute, but along with our then 15 year old BSH lilac point, we decided that three was too much, as we regularly commute 1.5hrs to/from our weekend place.

Although seeing that photo does make me think we made a mistake!
