Our little sthouse, at eight weeks and now at 10 months.
Weirdly, when they’re young pups they don’t look at all like Whippets; they just gradually evolve into pointy-nosed little buggers

We went into Sarfamptun on Saturday to visit the Christmas market, I had approximately 5 doggy interactions which resulted in several ear snorts and licks/kisses!!!

Excuse the copy/paste please - didn't want to repost the whole thing and annoy anyone.

"Love this one, as I've caught the lifting of the paw thing that she does when she's spotted something interesting:"
I know that lovely Daphne is part JRT, is this a recognisable JRT cross trait (like hopping on one back leg)?
Only asking because my darling Cookie does the exact same thing.
Does either Daphne or Barry hop too?
Thanks for posting the pictures of your mob. Love them all.
My JRT cross who also happens to be called Daphne (we think she's a cross with a dachsund of some kind, perhaps a bit of Staffies and Corgi in there too, but predominantly Jackie Russ) does the paw lift thing and the hopping - the latter being most amusing because her gate is affected by having short Dachsie front legs and longer Russell back legs, so she's quite aerodynamic. Been meaning to get a drag coefficient rating from the vet. Here she is in the presence of cheese and biscuits. HTP99 said:

Frank (now 5 months) had his first trip to the groomers last week - not for a clip but just to get him used to it and for her to assess how chilled he was (answer: very - he was more interested in her alpacas in the paddock outside than what she was doing). He came back super clean (but smelling like an old lady at Sunday mass):
I then took him out for a quick walk where all the grooming was undone within minutes......
....but at least he didn't smell of old ladies anymore.

Brilliant! That tail is just a blur!Edited by CivicDuties on Monday 20th November 13:30
Cookie also cocks a leg to pee, instead of squatting like a lady.
Sometimes she'll "cock" both legs and perform a handstand which has made me laugh for years.
Some years ago an artist friend captured her typical "what's that over there?" pose perfectly.

Ha ha, yep, Daphne does this whilst backing up a tree trunk for preference! Some years ago an artist friend captured her typical "what's that over there?" pose perfectly.
Lovely painting.

How wonderful to see a Chow How old is he? I grew up around these as my parents bred (and showed at Crufts) in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’. Their last one lived with Mum until he was PTS last year and was alongside Dad when he passed away. Such a faithful, if obstinate breed. I love them. Can’t go anywhere on a walk without stopping and having conversations about them. I have photos of me under one with three while I’m in a pushchair being guarded. Come to think of it most childhood photo of me have a Chow in them… :scratchin:
So many stories from their fur being sent to someone who made rugs and clothes to Sheila Jakeman (Crufts judge/breeder and U.K. Chow rescue) being parent’s friend and one of dogs being bred with hers to produce champions.
Big hugs Reginald.
I’ve posted many times about them so apologies if you’ve read this before I just get all emotional when I see/meet one.
ETA to add pics just because I’m crying now
I’m on the far left with the amazing trousers.
