How wonderful to see a Chow How old is he? I grew up around these as my parents bred (and showed at Crufts) in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’. Their last one lived with Mum until he was PTS last year and was alongside Dad when he passed away. Such a faithful, if obstinate breed. I love them.
Can’t go anywhere on a walk without stopping and having conversations about them. I have photos of me under one with three while I’m in a pushchair being guarded. Come to think of it most childhood photo of me have a Chow in them… :scratchin:
So many stories from their fur being sent to someone who made rugs and clothes to Sheila Jakeman (Crufts judge/breeder and U.K. Chow rescue) being parent’s friend and one of dogs being bred with hers to produce champions.
Big hugs Reginald.
I’ve posted many times about them so apologies if you’ve read this before I just get all emotional when I see/meet one.
ETA to add pics just because I’m crying now
I’m on the far left with the amazing trousers.
What lovely memories I would have have loved to have had a Chow buddy when I was young ...I think i have some of those "Rupert the bear" trousers somewhere...or at least I have photos of myself wearing them sometime in the mid 70's Can’t go anywhere on a walk without stopping and having conversations about them. Lilly is 3 years old in January, she has us well trained, not vice versa, and she fits in perfectly with our lifestyle

Apologies I called her Reginald but now realise Lily was saying hello to him! She’s beautiful. I love looking at the pedigree histories and researching the show winners. There’s a wealth of info on the net and some of my Dad’s dogs/descendants. Lilly is 3 years old in January, she has us well trained, not vice versa, and she fits in perfectly with our lifestyle
The picture would be around 1977. I’m sure iirc that’s a Wombles T-Shirt I’ve matched with them. So on trend. Probably be worth a fortune soon too as they’re making a comeback after 50 years

I think Reginald could have been a Chow in a former life, because he always has this regal air about him The picture would be around 1977. I’m sure iirc that’s a Wombles T-Shirt I’ve matched with them. So on trend. Probably be worth a fortune soon too as they’re making a comeback after 50 years
1977 sounds about right, in pics my mum was looking like a Bay City Rollers groupie . I wish I still had some of my 70s clothes (and toys!) they would be worth a few quid !
Otto is staying with a friend for a few days. I left him in my friend’s office (yes we have dogs in the office, about 8-10 depending on the day!) getting treats whilst I slipped away. 10mins go by and Otto is roaming the offices looking for me, eventually sitting outside my office pining😩
I probably should have warned my friends about his dislike of the local foxes.
Apparently he went from mild mannered janitor to Hong Kong Fooey without passing through the filing cabinet.
