I made the mistake of calling Lemmy, 'Lemster', once. Mrs Adenauer said I sounded like Alan Partridge and that she would leave me if I did it again. biggrin

I haven't.
(Makes note to suggest Dan as next dog's name).

I wanted to call Lemmy, 'Syndrome'.

She knew I just wanted to hear her telling him to get down from stuff and put the kybosh on that name very quickly indeed.

I disagree! I have three and its the same as having one. One still needs a walk, so might as well take all three. Same with the vets for jabs, same for everything really.

However, it is more expensive, lots more, but I would not change a thing.

Having browsed some of the older posts here, I think it's fair to say yours are "special" :-)

(In a good way, I hasten to add!)

Granted they are high energy working beed dogs known to be difficult when puppies and yes I've probably forgotten how hard Logan was when a puppy, and that he's the best easiest going dog ( mostly) now but she never switches off and he winds her up even more so it literally never ends. Every minute is play time, even if she does shut up and settle down he only has to move and she's back to play mode smile and when he doesn't want to play she gets even worse,

Still just over 3 years and she'll be good and calm like him . Live them to bits but dear lord they are hard work at the moment.

It's so hard being a cattle dog puppy smile

That does look like hard work right now. I sure it will improve as she calms with age though... (hope so, for your sake !)

Makes me smile that Logan looks at you as if to say - waht ? I dont know what shes on about.....

We both go and hide smile it's not as bad as I'm making out but definitely easier with one dog.

She's absolutely great on her own, a different dog. When he's around it's play, play ,play and more play or I'll bark until you play.

Yeah he looks at me gone out sometimes.

Pesty, it's not really fair for you to say that two are more work as your two are clearly mental. biggrin

Unlike these two finely tuned bundles of slobber.

Not actually a photo of my dog, although one is a black & white hound..

A sight very familiar to many greyhound owners -

I think mine is borken. She takes up the most space possible.

ETA: If you want to get a second for Freya, do it now, not in two years

We have had one, two and three dogs over the years.

Have found two to be ideal, especially if walking them on your own.

There have been reasonable gaps in between them often with a younger dog introduced as one is getting older.

I don't think there is any hard and fast rule. So much depends on personal circumstances and the character of the dogs - which you only truly find out later

Re: Second Freya - I think I'll wait until July. I'm a teacher (booohisssbooo) so will have the summer holiday to train/cope with a second puppy.

I had three weeks off in the beginning with Freya which helped a lot with the training.

Although, I think she's biting too much and too hard. My problem is that I don't have a yardstick to measure against. Shes just over 4 months old now - most of the time she want to bite (the hand that feeds)...

Is this normal and is there any tricks I should be doing. Currently I isolate her in her cage if she gets too much...this calms her down but give it ten minutes and shes all teeth again...

Make a noise like it hurts and move away what ever it is they're biting, stop playing for a short period (seconds not minutes) and then go back to it. Be consistent. They soon learn if they want to play don't bite the people!
