What do cats mean when they

We have bengals and one does the falling over thing, on the bed, on the floor, anywhere really, and he likes to be scratched or pampered quite vigorously, like you would a dog, its quite amusing, he loves it, but I can imagine if you did that to most cats they would have your hand off!
One thing I've never quite understood with that same cat is that he will jump on the bed, or sofa, then fall over right near the edge, then roll around until he falls off and then claw the st out of the bed or sofa, I don't get why he does this RIGHT by the end of whatever he is on, why not go further on as then falling off will not happen?
The things they do are amusing, and they really are very different, we have one that I swear you could say his name to him 10 times and he would meow back every single time. Despite being in the deepest sleep not with us, if you called their name they would wake from their slumber, jump over the sofa and sit on your lap, anything to be with you, its really incredible vs cats as I knew them before.
I think many cats like edges. Possibly because it is reminiscent of being on a branch in a tree. When I'm on the sofa with feet on the table, ours loves to sit on my legs. Won't sit further up me where the sofa would be underneath him and me, oh no. He has to be on my legs, over the gap between the sofa and the table.
And since he weighs close to 8kg now, it's a nice stretch for the tendons at the back of my knees!

Is my cat living with you. You have just described Verty to a tee!
Exactly like tickling a dog. Our other Bengal is less tolerant.
Yes the other one likes it slightly less rough. But still loves the belly rub. Exactly like tickling a dog. Our other Bengal is less tolerant.
Makes sense Greg. Oddly the smarter one doesn't do the edge thing. And it also doesn't do what you said re sitting on legs but the edge cat loves to sit on your legs. Crazy.
I'll be woken up by the smarter one hammering its feet on the door in 8 hours, progressively getting louder. The other one just stands and watches. Wish I had two of those at times!

When our cat does the rolling over thing it's nothing but a trap...
Go to touch him and his front legs and mouth come together like a venus flytrap to trap your hand whilst he bats it with his hind legs.

Has my cat moved in with you?
Mine does this all of the time! He hangs on with his claws and teeth so tightly that I can lift him off of the ground.

Re: Drinking
Get a cat fountain. 20 quid, 4w pump, constant running water. It's quite small and discrete and comes with a fly-lead so easy to empty and refill at the sink.
At which point cat will either go off water entirely or just sit by the tap waiting for it to be switched on (after of course playing for a few hours in the box the fountain came in)Get a cat fountain. 20 quid, 4w pump, constant running water. Our boy just pushed it off the worktop (we had placed it next to his favourite tap) we tried a few times but he just wasn't having it ,its the tap or nothing in his world Gassing Station | All Creatures Great & Small | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
