As above is it worth getting a pedigree house cat spayed?

Anything I should consider?

Spaying your cat is definately in her best interests. It will prevent mammary tumours and ovarian cancer and a womb infection called pyometra. If not spayed she will come into season very regularly and be noisy and may continually try to escape to find a mate. Of course the biggest advantage is that if she does manage to get out of the house she won't come back pregnant.

Interesting.

I have insect doors on my house so no worry about her getting out but the cancer thing is worrying as is being noisy, I am a man after peace hehe

more to think about.

All of this. Plus the entire males she'll attract to your garden. And she'll find the smallest window to squeeze out of!

Unless you plan to breed from her there is nothing to be gained from being entire except maybe easier to keep her slim but that is achieveable with careful monitoring.

She'll never be put to stud but part of me is sorry such a good pedigree is ended.

Cat flap won't happen either we live 50 yds from the A46...

I suppose I'll book her in.

Definitely get her done. Strong arguments as above, plus I actually think that seeing a cat calling is pretty distressing - they don't really understand what's going on and just get overwhelmed by the instinct - can't really chill out much or play during the season.

Don't underestimate what it's like having half a dozen tomcats set up camp on your doorstep and proceed to fight each other for her affections, too... hehe

We got two Maine Coons as house cats late last year, a neutered male and an entire female. We found that the female became a lot less nervous and highly-strung after getting her spayed. You'll probably find that her temperament will improve as a result.
