Typically Molly has decided to be ill on a bank holiday, so I was hoping for some advice as to whether I should contact the emergency vets, or wait and see how she goes.

She was sick yesterday, but I thought nothing of it as she has always had a tendency to be a sicky cat due to fur balls, eating grass, and eating anything that moves. Then I heard her being sick early this morning, and sorry for being gross but it was quite liquidy and not her usual reguritated food type sick. She seems okay in her self, except maybe a bit more cuddly.

I have not given her any wet food this morning, but have left her dry food out (chicken and rice dry food) and fresh water. I am currently boiling some chicken breast to give her. Any other advice on what I should do?

Is metacam a pain killer? I have some in the cupboard from when she had a bladder problem a few months ago. Is it okay to give her some of this, or is that a definate no?

Should I be ringing the vets, or should I see how she goes? Thanks for any advice on this.

Note: Why is it that the majority of our house has wooden flooring, but Molly chooses to be sick on either the rug or carpet?!

Definitely no to Metacam. It should not be given if any vomiting or diarrhoea as it suggests guts are irritated and this could just worsen that. (A vet may inject metacam if they think vomiting is due to pain but they usually avoid it if dodgy tummy suspected)

I would say you are doing the right thing by cooking up some chicken, take away the dry food aswell. Feed little and often, few mouthfuls every couple of hours.

You can just phone the emergency vets for advice.

The liquid she vomitied was probably because she had no food to vomit and this may make her feel a bit sorry for herself.

I would say if she is still vomiting tonight/ tomorrow, she should be seen.

Thanks for the advice. I did wonder about the metacam, I know you humans can't take NSAIDs with an upset stomach, so I wondered if it would be the same - hence why I would have never given it to her without checking.

She is loving the chicken - I will find it difficult to make her eat normal cat food after this! So far no more episodes of sickness. She has been out for a while and is currently basking on the windowsill. I will see how she goes overnight.

Thanks again for your help.
