Cat with kidney problems won't eat vets food

One of my mums cats has developed a kidney problem due to old age and the vet has supplied a couple of different brands of specialised kidney diet but the cat refuses to eat any of it.

Royal Canin and Hills K/D are the brands.

Any tips or alternatives to help us wean her onto it?

Thanks for the replies.

The cat inquestion was raised on a diet of hard food (Go Cat).

She did get the odd treat of cooked ham and chicken.

We have been given some pouches of K/D chicken and salmon and she won't eat that either but she does love chicken?

She will also eat sardines and salmon. Would it be ok to mix any of these foods in with the pouches?

Today after trying various combinations she finally fell for the dry stuff mixed with Mackerel.

She had two good feeds of it today and certainly seemed to enjoy it.
