Advice on settling in a Kitten

We have just bought two pedigree kittens. Both female and litter trained. One is very outgoing but the other spends all day hiding.
They are eating well.
I have tried cat toys and treats to tempt the shy one out, but she just stares at me - sadly!
Any experience of this.? We have had cats for years, so perhaps I need to be patient.

Thanks for the advice.
We will certainly give the kitten plenty of time. She is resolutely ignoring string, fish on a line, jangling bells etc. But clearly want to join in.
She is a bit more bold a meal times when I daresay her appetite overcomes her caution.
