Hi Guys,
Hoping for a bit of constructive advice from some more experienced dog owners. We are currently dog-sitting Brian the pug belonging to my step-son and his partner. Brian visits most weeks and has stayed with us before with few problems. However, yesterday instead of his usual daily poop, he went 5 times. Fortunately, before we went to bed, we laid down some newspaper because when I got up this morning, he had been twice in the lounge, something he has never done before. I have taken him for his morning walk and he went again. He seems lively enough and has knocked seven bells out of his Kong to eat his breakfast. What can I do? The material coming out of him is a bit soft but I would not describe it as diarhorrea. As I said he seems his normal, lively self, is there anything I can feed him to "firm" things up a bit? He is always fed the best Pug food and not allowed to eat anything that would not be good for him, so I am struggling to come up with any ideas.
All constructive replies would be gratefully received.

Hi Bex,
Thanks for the response. He has not had anything other than his normal diet. He is drinking as usual. We had already decided not to feed him anything else today to see if that helps. We will then keep it bland as suggested. Thanks again.

After an expensive incident involving chocolate and a trip to the vets, we Brian proof everything before he comes to visit. He does have access to his water bowl in the kitchen, but all food is well out of reach.
As an update, we starved him after breakfast yesterday and there was just one, relatively sloppy poop. Fortunately, when I woke him this morning, the lounge was also a poop free zone. He has had a bland breakfast and SWMBO has just taken him for his morning walk.
Thanks for all replies, suggestions and help. wavey

I agree entirely. The issue with Brian is that, from 3 days old, he was hand raised, so tends to think he is a person. Other times he seems to know he is better than that! I will try to post some pictures of him when I have computer access later inn the week.
