8 Days Across Europe, Where Would You Go?
Discussion
I'm off on a trip across Europe on Sunday. We've only booked the first nights hotel in Thionville, France (a couple of hours in after Dunkirk). And we've booked a hotel the night before coming back. Other than that, we can go wherever...
Where would you go? Want to see as much as I can. We were hoping to make it as far as Bled, Slovenia. But that might be pushing it.

If the roads are not closed this time of year, the Alps. Stunning scenery and the best driving roads i've ever been on. Make sure you do the square lap of the Grimsel and Furka pass. Stopping off at the Porsche and Mercedes museums in Stuttgart on the way.
Yes, I definitely want to. Apparently they may be covered in snow at this time of year though What's the square lap?
Bugatti museum at Mulhouse , I thought I'd hate it but it's very interesting , especially at the end when you can go out the back and hire cars for a few laps of the small test track for 50 euros or so , we got a Porsche 356 roadster and a c1 corvette but there was a mondial , Healy 3000 and something else that I can't remember.
Call in at the old Reims buildings on the way there or back , obviously go to the ring , and if you decide on this route you'll get on the autobahn at some point .

Google won't let me route it properly because of the snow, but it's basically that but following the 19 on the bottom leg.
Thionville - Next morning Trier, that afternoon Nürburing, next morning travel to Dachau, that evening München, next day Berchtesgaden / Königssee / Kehlsteinhaus, stay in Salzburg, next day travel to Prag and stay for one or two nights, then back to Stuttgart for the Porsche and Mercedes museums, next day back to Thionville.
Something like that.
Something like that.
We are doing 10 days road trip[ in Northern Spain in September, but crossing to Santander.
If I was going at this time of year and crossing to Northern France, I would definitely go to the Alps even if the high passes are closed. Annecy looks like a lovely place (I have only driven through)

Slovenia is fabulously far away.
I agree. bulldong said:
If you do get to Slovenia, then the Bovec region is one of the most beautiful places I have been in Europe. Second only to the "Veneon Valley" or "Vallée du Venéon" in France - which is also something you could consider.
Both of those are definitely do-able. I'd like to get to Bled, so the Bovec region could be on the way.halfpenny43 said:
If you could end up in Essen (close to Dusseldorf) on the 7th, 8th or 9th of April - you could go to Techno Classica !
This, definitely. A huge classic car show with the best cars this side of the Atlantic. Also the Technic Museum at Sinsheim:https://sinsheim.technik-museum.de/en/
