I would personally donate towards the legal costs of anyone that refused to pay the fine and insisted on being taken to court.

Hell I'd deliberately break the law and get fined myself for my day in court. It is none of their sodding business if I'm going to Nice, Amsterdam or Chicago!

I HATE THIS BLOODY GOVERNMENT!
I think it is proabbly more aimed toward people visiting pakistan for "training", but of course, instead of just making anyone going to pakistan sign up, they have to inconveninece the rest of us too, os as not to be "racist".

I didn't think they went to pakistan for training, everyone always says they go to visit 'family' or do 'charity' work.

Heard this on R4 this morning but can't find it on the BBC website...

Apparently this year there's going to be a new law introduced making us file 'travel plans' before leaving the country. In other words, all they have to do is refuse, and you can't leave.

Is this a plan to stop any more of us emigrating to nicer places? I can't believe they could simply impose this and nobody's noticed.
Love to see them ask my Rottie in the passenger seat. He has his own passport, which the frogs took very seriously. He was picking up on my pissed-offness by this stage and baring his lip. Had to put the rabies id scanner on him myself, lol! Thinking of going to France soon, just for a giggle! In a Corvette! (Oh bugger, they,ve got left/right booths haven't they! Any other ideas?

pity they can't stop the immigrants, if they could do that, would not be too bad, but once they come to the land of free benefits, they are sorted for life as nu labia rarely deport anyone

I'd prefer 'defenestrate', to be frank.

Apologies if this has appeared earlier but I don't have time to check sorry. This e border thing has been trialled at Manchester for last several years (which explains the queues at immigration on return to have your passport scanned). It is another form of control but more importantly will be a revenue raiser eg " you have an outstanding parking ticket so cannot go on hols without paying it" etc etc...like ANPR for humans.

Trouble is you're right but 'they' will use that as a positive to argue for it. Lazy law enforcers have never had it so good, the state-molested innocent have never had it so bad.

Kicks off 2010 so you'll be ok this year (!).
Funniest bit is the need for "e permission " before swimming the Channel or sailing off coast in your boat...and remember it won't be granted if you've used the wrong bin to recycle or parked on a yellow line etc etc.

Exit controls for departure to other countries within the European Union were scrapped by the last Conservative Government. The rest were scrapped by Jack Straw, when he became Home Secretary, after Labour won the election in 1997.

However, passport inspections at ports have gradually been reintroduced as the Government looks to prevent anyone on a Government watchlist fleeing the country.
Anyone on a Government watchlist? That's EVERYONE.

Earth to Government: We WANT them to flee the country - just don't let the feckers back in.

Reason for leaving UK: Smuggling drugs and the police are getting close on all those murders I did...

Do they think this sort of thing is going to be written down to make catching criminals easier?

As for trip destination, well if I can't change my mind on where I go then to me that is not being free, and the only reason to live a life without liberty is to fight for liberty itself IMO.

If they are going to fine me for returning to the UK and not declaring that I changed my mind during my trip and went to Italy instead of Spain for example, then it would be simpler (and £5000 cheaper) to not return to the UK...
When I was a bum travelling in India, we had to give all this info at every hotel we stayed at. After a month or two it got tedious, so my occupation varied from child abortionist to arsonist, to prime minister, to rocket scientist, and everywhere in between. My age varied between 3 and 300. Nobody ever questioned it.

I have an idea the UK government might find some strange answers if they actually ever look at the circa 20 million replies people will give every year. hehe
hehe

I was working in Manchester last Thursday. Driving along minding my own business I was suddenly halted by a police motorcycle, all the traffic behind me stopped and then came a barrage of about 20 motorbikes all surrounding a Range Rover. Inside that Range Rover was our wonderfull PM! Imagine my shock and suprise, I didn't believe it until I got home and checked the Manchester News to see his ugly face 'doing good things' for the people of Manchester. Anyways my point, this trip was not in the national press but the security he had was actually scary, certainly scared me, I would have loved to pic the blackberry up and film or photograph, well I didn't fancy eating porridge, because this state would assume my malice motives in a few mobile pics!!.

Just how utterly deluded is this idiot of a PM and his own crazy views on terrorism? FFS, scary scary times indeed, the man is a pyscho.

Range Rover? 20 motorbikes? Isn't he supposed to use the train like all of us to save the Planet?
