As my first ski trip gets nearer, i'm a little worried, with all these high temperatures people talk of, that there will be any snow left by the 6 April? Anyone have any thoughts?

Off to Passo del Tonale...

We'll make the most of it whatever, but snow would be nice hehe

The insurance they offer with the lift passes is generally good value as well.

€2 for a helicopter ride and st loads of drugs is the best €2 my mate ever spent. biggrin
Actually surely the mountain companies should all include said insurance with every ticket ie it’s compulsory as no doubt countless people can’t afford heli lifts etc
No lift pass insurance is going to cover you off-piste.

Winter sports cover generally doesn't cover you off-piste unless you're with an accredited guide.

You need specialist mountaineering insurance to be covered if you're in the back country on your own.
Covered a mate and his 2 sons to be heli-lifted off a Val d'Isere off piste back country run a few weeks ago, or it would have been €3,500.

Why the fk are so many people trying to ski down this type of slope at the same time? Talk about stacking up the risks...

Total idiots and typical European tourist skiers; "got to get my bit of snow first before anyone else! fk safety! fk your line! 4/5 avalanche risk? Pfffft!"

...
LONG time since I've been there ... well, maybe 15 years. About the only bar / nightlife then used to be the Yucatan, which is still going, but having just looked online, there are now a few other places!
I may have to reacquaint myself. smile

I can't recall the pistes / lifts being well connected.... but as I said, it's been about 15 years .... #oldman

It’s not lacking in snow, it’s cold and there’s more snow due.

I've been skiing in Tignes and Val d'Isere as late as the first week on of May before but you can't always guarantee the the skiing will be good. This year Tignes closes 1st May so you might be ok the week before.

Chose it for the high altitude so expected snow on the high slopes - if I can ski down to the village too that would be perfect

I know it's not that well connected with little flow between the lifts - the ungroomed run down from Titlis to stand looks interesting!

There are currently two runs down to the village open. The screenshot and that info were from the SwissSnow app. Worth a download if you are skiing in Switzerland.

The season runs October to end of May and there’s a glacier, so I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Can anyone recommend a good resort for families with young children within Europe?

Our kids have just started getting to grips with skiing, this was their 2nd year; last year they spent all their time in the ski school area and on the low 'baby slopes' (i.e. no need to be lifted up the mountain, just a small drag lift). This year they ski'd down the mountain (with an instructor) for the first time which I think was the equivalent of a red in France and they didn't really enjoy it as it was too busy and too steep for them.

We usually go to a resort in Switzerland (Les Diablerets) but they have closed almost all the beginner runs hence having to ski the 'bigger' runs.

Ideally we would like to find a small quiet resort where we can ski together as a family on some nice long gentle runs (preferably through trees), while they get their confidence levels up. I am an ok skier and can easily help them out on gentle runs but when the runs get steeper I wouldn't have the confidence to help them if they got into trouble.

Want to make the most of the few years we have with them before they leave us for dust!

Any advice gratefully appreciated! - The wife prefers Switzerland but I would be happy with anywhere that fits the above criteria.
