I don't follow the logic there - where does the stress come from? We booked a holiday early to remove the stress. If we can go away, that's brilliant, it's already all sorted, no last minute running around frantically trying to book a holiday along with millions of other should things open up. If it doesn't happen, then it's not an issue, we're in exactly the same position as everyone else.
I get the impression from this thread that its those people who haven't booked anything are the ones stressing - they just seem desperate for everyone to be in the same position they are.
there's certainly a little bit if that going on but I can imagine there will be some stress involved - e.g waiting for the test results for your flight back - if you have work next week or the kids have school...if you're a retired couple then yes, I get it - no stress. Depends upon circumstances and your attitude to risk (and I don't mean medical - that's a none issue for me).I get the impression from this thread that its those people who haven't booked anything are the ones stressing - they just seem desperate for everyone to be in the same position they are.
Stress is just a physiological response, what we all find stressful varies massively based on our circumstances and perception and understanding of the events.
Baring in mind people are saying x will be stressful today in April when we don’t know what will be happening in July or august and what the procedures etc will actually be.
This is exactly like last years thread. People who don’t want to go away didn’t go and some wanted to but weren’t able to go due to new rules and corridors etc and some went and enjoyed themselves. Each to their own.

For me it's something to look forward too. Jan/ Feb are pretty depressing months so normally knowing you've got skiing, beaching etc all booked up gets you through it. This year I also got an absolute bargain on the flights/ hotels etc as I booked when nobody else was. If it comes off it's a result. I do love a billy bargain. If it doesn't it's all transferable to a later date so could be a bit disappointing at the time but not the end of the world. It'll happen eventually.
Exactly the same view we've taken.Amateurish said:

Will £500 pp in Covid tests for everyone going on holiday put people off?
Would be more like £1000 for a family of 4? - 4 tests out and then 4 tests on the way back in @£125/each?Uncle John said:
I’ve said it before on here & I’ll say it again, I’ve no idea why people are bothering at all this year.
All up in the air with moving goalposts is likely to cause more stress than not going at all.

Are not holidays about de-stressing.
The day of getting to the airport stupid early, inevitable delays and packed like sardines with all manner of horrible humans means stress but then there is hopefully 6 days of warm sunny beaches, tavernas, walks in the sun and a bit of exploring.
That's in the old days.
I can't imagine what it now must be like what with having to get tests, worrying if you or any other of your party test positive, does your insurance cover it plus I don't work from home.
Sounds really stressful.

Quite right 6 days is no good. Takes me three days to wind down and I start winding back up again three days before I return. Thats why i go for three weeks at a time. Are not holidays about de-stressing.

Apart from skiing. As it's heavy on the activity I find I switch off very quickly.

Is the issue maybe your stress levels?

Covid tests €40 in Spain.
LFT - PCR test a bit more. According to expat website:"PCR tests in Spain can cost as little as €100 (£85) in some parts of the country but according to Spanish consumer watchdog OCU the price usually ranges from €130 to €240 (£110 to £204)."
So worth doing your homework before travel to get the cost down.

We went on a European driving tour and another in this country last year. Thoroughly enjoyed both.LeroyLoser said:
Private jet prices have come down a fair bit, that is a very stressless way to travel as we recently found out, you still have the test thing but they aren't stressful tbh.
I looked at that for skiing this year (not that it happened) Aerodrome is 15 mins from my house, can drive right up to the plane, bags on and off you go, and then free parking. Could land 15 mins from resort. For eight of us it worked out and extra £250/head for the holiday which I thought was worth it all day long. Rest of our group weren't so up for it mind but certainly will be pushing for it next year. 4hrs door to door instead of a very long day. Wasn't a jet though and nothing fancy. El stovey said:
Croyde didn’t you spend last years summer holiday thread stressing about your holiday for months and then cancelling it and then complaining about the weather in the U.K. instead?
Is the issue maybe your stress levels?
Possibly. Been a very stressful year. Is the issue maybe your stress levels?
We did have Kefalonia booked but Tui cancelled it about the same time as my work saying that anyone going abroad first needed permission then would have to quarantine for 2 weeks even if the visit was to a 'safe' zone, with no pay.
Very stressful.
Yes did manage the West Country and the Lakes over the summer. Cold wet foggy and bloody expensive bland stodgy food.
I need a holiday
The plan tomorrow for us, is to wizz down to Cornwall for the day to do some "essential work" on the large shed (lodge). Then on the 12th a nice early start with a pleasant trundle down to North Cornwall on the Atlantic Highway and stay there for at least a month. Will pop back home in May to pick up the motor bike so we can have the choice of bike or car to mooch about on.

I've binned all thoughts of a holiday for a very long time yet.
