a quick peek at flightradar24 doesnt seem to show any probs
Yeah I thought that also had a scoot around departure boards and can’t see many probs. Nothing really on Pprune either … Have had a text from TUI saying expect problems.

Time will tell I guess nothing I can do about it anyway I’ll make sure I have plenty of chocky in case stuck at airport and iPad fully charged for some gaming so ill be ok hehe

I see TUI are running their yearly January scam of trying to charge £750 per seat for a £100 per seat flight to the Canaries.

standard seats, not premium. Family of 4. They pulled this one me last year and I had to swallow it because it was a COVID-era rebook and I had to pick a date, they were all inflated prices.

Would you consider Lanzarote a bit too far for a fly out Friday and back on Sunday ?

We usually do a week pre covid and the wife starts a new job feb this year so I was thinking of a weekend in the sun, Majorca was favourite but there are very little flights available this time of year.

Well I'm sure flight is ok but tbh in the heat compared to here its not long enough and I'd find it to be mental torture coming back!

I’d still have that issue after a week !

I can get out at 6.30am and be there for lunch, then depart Sunday and land around 7pm… hmmmmm

Six hours travelling, at best, including airports and you could still get that window of bad weather that occasionally happens.

met stag did that have done Friday to Sunday but if I had the missus in tow and could fly Thursday evening and fly back Monday then it would be a goer.

would not risk Lanzarote though, it's a roulette wheel in Feb for weather.

Here at the moment, jet 2 flight out was good, row 1 extra legroom seats for a family of 4 were £250 p.p.

on separate subject the Riu Gran Canaria Maspalomas (4 star) is closed for a refurb this year, mid April- early August.

it's the best family 4 star hotel on the island and I hope they stick to the same formula.

We are in the Riu Vistamar in Puerto Rico next month for a week. Supposed to be really nice after the refurb.

Shortest we've been to any Canary island is 6 days squeezed in round other commitments.

Wasn't worth the aggro of travel or the cost of flights for such a short time and yes, quite right - hit a few days poor weather and you'll wonder why you bothered.

Saying that I can spend 6 hours sitting on the M1, M6 to Liverpool for a weekends work.

That's 6 hours there then 6 hours back.

I guess flying is ok unless there's hold ups. That will seriously screw a short break.

I've never actually done it, but when I was working we were planning to do the odd weekend in the Canaries. When you can pick up a flight for well under £100 it's a cheap weekend away.

Covid put a stop to our plans, and now I'm retired we can do longer.

On my way home from Tenerife :-( been a fantastic week with hardly a cloud in the sky and temps around 22 to 24.

I’ll be back in the Canaries again in April at our usual Lanzarote Riu but would definitely recommend Riu Buena Vista in Tenerife we will be back to this one.
