I am just trying to decide if its worth staying in Vegas for any length of time or not between Williams and Reno.
A lot of the reviews I read is its just not really a very nice place on the other hand some people rave about it.
It would be right around Christmas day so could do 2 nights or up to 3-4 nights...
Went there three years ago as part of a road trip and spent two nights there. Glad I did but wouldn’t bother going back. Just not for me but I can see why others rave about it.A lot of the reviews I read is its just not really a very nice place on the other hand some people rave about it.

Anyone risking booking for next year?
I'd love to..
I have something booked for February, but am fully expecting/prepared to have to cancel things due to you-know-what (eg. if you have to have a negative test to get back into the UK - can't risk being stuck in the USA for an extra week or two).I'd love to..
Edit to Add: As car hire prices are crazy I might not rent a vehicle for the first time Stateside, so it will be interesting to see if I get bored having to spend all my time within walking distance of a bus/shuttle/tram stop rather than the usual side trips into the desert.
Also, I noticed one of the early replies to this thread mentions avoiding taxis, but it seems things have changed in the last couple of years and there's now fixed prices from the airport to the major hotels, so no more long-hauling and often cheaper than Uber as Uber (and other similar services) have put their prices up.

Look at Turo.com for a car .. I'm using them in LA/Palm Springs Xmas NY period and prices were pretty good (GLK 350 for a week for $470)Edit to Add: As car hire prices are crazy I might not rent a vehicle for the first time Stateside, so it will be interesting to see if I get bored having to spend all my time within walking distance of a bus/shuttle/tram stop rather than the usual side trips into the desert.

I'm looking at a fortnight in April/May, few days downtown then Mirage or TI for the rest
As usual when the hotel rates are low the flights are pricey, and vice versa
Really needing to see a few places (restaurants, poker rooms etc) opening back up
Might also try to avoid any weekend the Raiders are playing at home, as their fans are total aholes

Unfortunately since my last trip in late 2019 we've lost...Planet Hollywood
Excalibur (supposedly going to reopen at some point)
Binions
Harrahs
Mirage
with some doubt over Ballys & Flamingo after the WSOP ends
This was on top of the loss in last few years of Luxor, TI, Monte Carlo (now Park MGM), & Strat
Basically the majority of decent mid-tier Strip locations that I played at for cash games are shut & remain so (i.e. not the bigger Aria/Wynn/Bellagio/Venetian who have economies of scale & purpose built rooms)
We stopped in LV from LA > SF for 3 nights and that was enough for us as we wasn't big gamblers. It was basically like being on your local shopping park with gambling everywhere. We did the buffets and pool thing and the shopping outlets but after you've seen a couple of hotel themes they all get a bit boring.
Wished we had stopped more in Sierra National Park, in Yosemite and some of the towns between there and SF. Mammoth lakes was quite a nice little town for a night.

We did a long weekend there back in 98. After the first day you realize that one casino is much the same as another, so we went for a drive to the outskirts to see what it was like. Ended up buying a brand new house for about a third of the cost of an older house in LA. Stayed there for 7 years

Wow I didn't realise that - I was basing my comment on the poker Vloggers I follow (Brad Owen, Rampage, etc) who had been playing regularly in Vegas, but obviously in the bigger rooms.Planet Hollywood

My last visit was in around 2011 and I played in all the rooms you mention - shame they have closed (well, with a few exceptions!) - always enjoyed the lively area of the Planet Hollywood poker room.

Yep a lot has changed since 2011 and not necessarily for the better. Going back that far you've also lost poker rooms at Linq (was Imperial Palace then), Tropicana, Hooters/OYO, as well as El Cortez & The D downtownMy last visit was in around 2011 and I played in all the rooms you mention - shame they have closed (well, with a few exceptions!) - always enjoyed the lively area of the Planet Hollywood poker room.
Brad Owen is good (although you don't see much other than the cards & him talking) but if you want to see a bit more of the Strip and places other than Bellagio then Trooper97, Pokerkraut, & Jeff Boski are also fairly well established vloggers too. Andrew Neeme *was* great (& for drone shots round LV etc) but seems to have lost the vlogging bug recently

I also follow Andrew Neeme but noted he has been inactive for a month or so but will check the others out - thanks.

.
stayed at the IP three times!!! our first vegas trip (2008?!?) we paid £450 for flights from glasgow> philly> vegas plus a week at the IP! it was an absolute dive of a hotel, but cheap as hell, but one of the best locations on the strip, and even had $2 blackjack with the ‘dealer-tainers’ where some of the ‘lookalikes’ were so bad yiu had to guess what celebrity they were meant to be! .
the year after we went back for 10 nights at the IP. we had a riot of a time in that place, boozing by the pool all day, off to where ever we fancied at night and would all regroup at the IP for beers at 4/5 am spotting all the hookers milling around trying to find the next victim to rob.
i miss cheap and nasty fun vegas! the last couple of times i’ve been it’s just gotten too expensive to enjoy it as much. $10/12 beers and $15/20 spirit mixers wears thin after a while!
All virgin aircraft offer upper class, premium and economy seats so if you want extra leg room then you could go for premium or upper.
The premium have a pitch of 38" which is a good but more than economy depending which aircraft you are on.
Upper are lie flat so you have all the leg room you need.
Some aircraft also have economy seats with slightly more leg room. Or a bulkhead seat which will also have more room. These do book up in advance though and sometimes virgin dont allow customers to book these early doors as they sell them for a premium.
The other thing to mention is virgin are playing musical aircraft at the moment, so just be aware you might find the aircraft changing a few weeks before departure. Normally its fairly fixed about 3 weeks from departure but any time before that they might change which could mean your seat allocation will change or you will have to pick new seats. IYSWIM.
